Long time lurker is delurking..

Hello all!

I have a confession.. I've been lurking here for over a year and a half, and have been enjoying the site and board very much - but I haven't posted until now.

Why? Uh.. blame it on being very introverted on top of being swedish.. :)

I will try to contribute from now on.. It's starting to feel strange to recognize a lot of the names here, and continue my expert impression of the invisible man..

I like roleplaying, but havent had the opportunity to indulge the last years.. the DM-without-players syndrome you know. But, I feed my cravings through SF/Fantasy books and RPG sourcebooks.. ;-) Thankfully, we have at least two good stores here in Stockholm..

There's the element of my being hard of hearing that makes it a bit iffy to just play with anyone... Once I played a couple of games with a deaf group, and it was an intriguing experience using sign language. Too bad it didn't pan out due to some personal conflicts and general difficutly in finding a schedule...

(And in case someone wonders - no, sign language isn't international. I often get this question, at least IRL.)

My RPG history is a bit spotty, most of my experience is more than 10 years old.. I started my infatuation in 1984 with the swedish rpg Drakar & Demoner (an adaptation of the basic roleplaying
rules that lay the foundation for the Runequest RPG, IIRC. But it later developed an identity all of its own..) and played several of the swedish RPG's before sliding into AD&D, which I DM'ed for a few years.

Sadly, that ended when I moved to Stockholm for my higher education. Since then there hasnt been much gaming for me, asides from that experiment with the deaf players. I've continued to buy sourcebooks though - mostly WW storytelling games, until I found a little site by Eric Noah about the coming DnD 3E... :D That reignited my interest in DnD again, resulting in a new set of sourcebooks.. I think this edition seems much better than the previous, although I haven't had the opportunity to playtest that opinion..

Hmm.. this introduction became a bit long winded - I thought that maybe some one out there would be interested in knowing a little about this (former) Great Lurker (tm)

If there are grammatical errors, remember that I'm not a native english speaker and have mercy.. :)

Welcome into the light, Citizen. A year and a half of lurking?! I'm sure you'll be a contender in the "Longest Lurker" category in the 2003 ENNies. :)

Hi Citizen! You might consider playing in a message board game. Since it's all typing, your hearing difficulties wouldn't matter at all. If you're interested, I can give you some URLs where I'm sure you could pick up a game.

Your English is WAY better than my Swedish, so who am I to complain?

But welcome! And I will also verify that indeed different languages have different sign languages as well.

Well, welcome to the boards, citizen. I recently "de-lurker-fied" myself as well. It's much more fun to post, though.

Good to have you as part of the community!

I would say "welcome" but you've been here a while (in an invisible kind of way!).

Aww, I'll say "welcome" anyway. Welcome! :)
