Look Ma- Rules Updates!

I want to point out again that there is another book coming out. They will probably address a lot of other things, like it sucks for swordmages but some builds/classes don't have anything right now either. Like Tome Wizards, Totem using primal classes and similar.

Give them time to publish the other book and then harass wizards mercilessly about what they left out.

* Warlord or other leader grants rogue an attack out of turn and that attack hits. Because most granted attacks are melee basics, this has conditions (2A) and (2B) from above as well.
Most granted attacks? I don't think so. My warlord grants basic attacks via Direct the Strike and they can be either melee or ranged (Ranged 5, "The target makes a basic attack as a free action against an enemy of your choice that you can see and is within 10 squares of you."). I use it for the rogue whenever he misses and hasn't gotten to use sneak attack. Now I can use it always and it opens up options for my warlord.

Yeah I'm going to take a wait and see. I haven't even seen the changes yet, for some reason the bank I work for doesn't think that the WotC website is necessary for business. Ridiculous, right? :p

I wonder how much of these updates will be in the essentials rule compendium coming out soon.

It almost seems weird to have a print book coming out when they still seem to be hammering out a couple of pages of revisions every month.

The thing that kinda vexes me is that they should have issued only one "Update for Essentials". Now we're going to have to go through this again next month for the other Player's book. I understand wanting to tease and entice, but the speculation as to the variable stats on the other races is of little use. I'd rather have a single Essentials update, and put all the cards on the table.

I believe it's "all of them" almost by definition. (Well, once you include the Heroes Of books along with the RC.) This update is the changes made to prior material to reflect the iteration of the rules printed in those books.

It is just a preview. Presumably ALL of this stuff will appear in the standard errata/update documents when they're good and ready (October update presumably).

Shag, you missed the part about how these are updates to the EXISTING books, not the Essentials books. This just brings 'classic' 4e in line with changes that already exist in Essentials.

I like this update, but for the implement feats and item rarities, they really could've organized that better. I had to flip through multiple books before I could find the right item, and some I couldn't find at all. Besides that format complaint, I am pleased with this!

Scribble, thanks for the link!

I own both Heroes of the Fallen Lands and Rules Compendium. All of these changes are in one or both of those books. That's the reason they posted those Updates today. New versions of those powers, feats, class features, and rules were printed in the new books.

As per WOTC's own rules, as soon as a new version of a rules item is printed in a book, it becomes the correct version. There is a new Weapon Focus feat in Heroes of the Fallen Lands. Since it has the same name as a feat from the PHB, it automatically errata's the PHB.
