Lookin' for high-level, low-fantasy Story Hour

I'd like an example of a fairly low-fantasy (greyhawk-esque) but high level game on Story Hour. Recommendations?

(level 13 or higher please)

Piratecat's?

Not too "low" on magic, tho', I guess. :o

(Edit - oh, you said low fantasy. Hmm... Like Greyhawk, you said? Might be possible...)

Am I correct to understand that you want a Story Hour that's low magic, but high-level? I'm not sure there is such an animal. Piratecat's story hour is the first and best high-level one out there...but it's certainly not low-magic.

Both Wulf's and my Story Hour are reaching high-level, but magic is quite present (and mine IS Greyhawk). :)

I'm not sure such an animal exists, in honesty. There are a few that are focused much more on story than mechanics, though.

I think he means 'low fantasy' as in Thieves' World, Lankhmar, Conan et al, as opposed to the 'high fantasy' of Tolkien, Eddings, Donaldson etc - there was a great article about this in Dragon, many years back.

So basically a story about people with their own problems that do not continually strive to save the world? That about right?

Any hint as to which issue (e.g., approximate year, what the cover looks like, etc.) this was in? 'cause I have the Dragon 1-250 CD collection, and you got me interested in this now... :)

Hi - you're in luck, I just spent 10 minutes digging through old Dragon magazines. Unsirprisingly it's from the golden age of pre-'90s* Dragon, before it went cr*p. It's "The Highs & Lows of Fantasy" in issue 143, pg 36. The author clearly favours the 'High' style but it's a fascinating look at both genres.

*edit: I said pre-2e but was wrong, it dates from 1989.
