Post-apocalyptic world reminiscent of Vance's Dying Earth. Individuals with magic powers are fairly common but they tend to be unique, hence the need for a classless system. Each PC is intended to have minor magical talent.
Game will be a sandbox with exploration and expedition planning a major feature. I'm looking for rules for wilderness dangers, effects of dehydration and starvation, fatigue and so forth.
The game will be gamist and simulationist. I'm not looking to tell a satisfying story. It's not narrativist.
I'm leaning towards GURPS 4th edition, but what other options should I consider? Any d20 systems that fit the bill? I prefer the d20 mechanic to GURP's 3d6 roll low.
