Looking for a Creature

Ozmar

First Post
Hello,

I am looking for a celestial/extraplanar/good creature that has the ability to transform into a magical weapon or object. I recall once reading about such a creature and thinking that they would make a great item of "treasure" to include in a game. But now I can't find the source.

Can anyone remember where I might have read about such a creature? I have most books, all dragon mags, and can access internet if it was online?

Much thanks to anyone who can help with this!

No idea. But why don't you just take an existing celestial from the MM and then just polymorph it.. and leave it with some specail abilities.

Yep. I probably will do that. I just know I remember reading about such a creature and it was perfect for what I want to use. Since I spent all night last night pouring over my collection in a vain attempt to find it, I figured I'd at least ask here and see if anyone knows off hand where I can find it.

Thanks!

read the spoiler i wrote...

also there have been adventures like this in published material.

Dungeon, Dragon, White Dwarf, heck even Poly iirc...

plus some creative referees have been doing this for years... ;)

diaglo,

Thanks. Hmmm... that spoiler you mentioned seems like it will be hard to find, but I'll look around. I'm quite sure that's not what I remember reading, but I'll see if any of my friends has a copy.

It was published in 1984, and written by Douglas Niles and Bruce Nesmith? I take it that the Cutter character has or is something along the lines of what I am looking for?

Thanks again!

you're welcome...

yeah, the kid is actually a blade. but he doesn't remember this until you take him the right place. and then he transforms/reforms to be used for his special purpose.

I think in the 2nd Edition MM there was a type of Aasimon called Agathinon that could shape change into items. I think they're in the Planescape MC I as well.

"THAT'S IT!!!"

(Picture an old Peanut's cartoon in which Sally shouts this line and sends Charlie Brown flying...)

Thanks! I knew I read that somewhere! And I'm a big PS fan. I feel embarassed to have forgotten. As soon as I get home, I'm going to look up my 2nd PS books.

Thanks again!

Neato! That's also a very cool idea! I might have to use that instead. I might use both, but then I'll have to be careful or the whole shtick runs the risk of becoming too repetitive.

That 'splains his name. Cute. I am liking this idea. I'll definitely have to use it. (Hope my players don't read these boards...)

Thanks again!
