Looking for a game and introducing myself

I played tabletop 4th Edition and I’m not a fan also of the new system.
Most of the 3.5 games over here are Ebberon or Homebrew like renau1g said.
I’m DMing 2 Greyhawk 3.5 edition games since I’m a huge fan of this world, but maybe in the future I’ll run a Ravenloft game as well. I have no extensive DM knowledge of FR and Dragonlance so I’ll not run them.
Other system that I especially like is Chaosium – Call of Cthulhu and I’m currently GMing a game over here. Finding players that are interested in other systems then D&D is not easy over here.

Ravenloft has always intrigued me but i am reluctant to RP in a world i know next to nothing about. Well i hope a DM gets nostalgical about Evermeet, Baldur's Gate, the Dales and all the other Faerun locations we hold dear (and i KNOW :p) and starts an adventure.

Welcome!

There are plenty of us dinosaurs left who play 3.5.

Although I have not seen a FR setting for quite some time. Seems like most people run either Eberron or Greyhawk.

Keep your eyes peeled, and I'm sure you'll find an opening.

I hear giants swing hard and pack a punch..... :uhoh:

I actually love the Realms, but they have changed SOOOOO much over the years. It is hard to keep up with them. I actually haven't bought any Realms material since the 3E FRCS, but I've got a ton of older stuff. While I wish I had the time to run more games, the two I've got going keep me busy enough.

Have you thought about DMing a game yourself, Myth?

As may said before, there are not many games that match your target. I'll recommend you to play 3.5 and let the flavour to the Dm's. After all, many PBPs games are short and funny, and you don't have to be an expert about the place you are in.
The way I see it, if you want to actually play something, play any 3.5 game you find, and keep waiting for a Faerum game. There are many 4e games, I have one myself, if you want to try. I think the reluctance to play 4e is because the game system may have some flaws or unbalanced things, but you notice them way up there in the high levels. As time passes, WOFC will surely place some "updates" and fixes to the system, like it has done before. I found the system more simple, accessible and fluid.
If you want to drop in, check my signature, and leave a message in the OOC thread.
About God's slaying thing, I think it's just a bit of recycling, and anyway, as with 3.5, most 4e games are hombrews. Excellent hombrews!
So My recommendation is that you join the first 3.5 game you see, and if it's not FR, think its a chance to learn a bit about other worlds, while you wait for the charity of a DM. ^^

PS: English is not my first language either. As I speak it, it seems to be my 5th =P

Edit: Holy **** I forgot to welcome you to the boards! Happy gaming!

Haha thank you everyone! I have been away for these past 4 days but yes, now that Voda Vosa has mentioned it, i guess i can play Greyhawk (that's where the Temple of Elemental Evil cRPG takes place right? Boccob was their equivalent of Mystra for example. If i got this right i guess i'm not totally new to the setting.)

Rhun i have no experience with RPing other than PC games and the RP thread i recently joined on another board. I also don't know the rules and all the little additions that well. Since I aspire to become a writer some day, i can put together a great strory and create three dimentional NPCs, but when it comes to the mechanics i am lacking :) So DMing for me would be an option after a couple of campaigns here where i watch and learn :D

Any way i value the community aspect of a forum first and foremost, and this one here seems to be excellent! I'll look around for a Greyhawk 3.5 game when i get home.

On 4E rules, they just seem so annoying. And i don't have any material on that as well. Speaking of material, I don't live in the USA so getting the books is high on impossible for me. That's why i ... obtain them in PDF format. Which is why i can probably get any book WOTC has ever printed :) What's the community's oppinon of this somewhat illegal activity?

Definitely against the community's policies, pirating is not supported or tolerated. I'd suggest not discussing it or admitting to undertake said activites as it can lead to account banning or suspension.

P.S. It's not somewhat illegal, it's a violation of copyright law.
