Looking for a good 1st level module for brand new players

Dungeon magazine has a lot of decent low-level adventures IMO. It's a pity one can only use them once in a long while (unless you start a lot of low-level campaigns).

I usually give my players their 2nd level hp in advance to offset the chance of killing anybody with just one or two arrows.

As the Defender of the Sunken Citadel, I simply must recomend Sunless Citadel by Wizards of the Coast.

I´ve run it the last couple of months with 2 groups: one group consists of players all new to D&D (2 males and 2 females),the other group is all dm:s and veteran players ( all males).

It´s been a blast, for both groups. And for me. As a first time dm, I couldn´t ask for a better module to start to dm with. It´s very easy to run, and it´s pedagogical.

The module is a dungeon-crawl,but it offer the players alot of opportunitys to role play, both inside and outside of the Citadel.

I'll second Gorgoldland's Gauntlet, it's perfect for people who've never played D&D before. Has some interesting and simple mental puzzles blended with a few low power monsters just right for 1st lvl PCs. The "boss monster" at the end is cool too.

We also really liked The Raiders of Galath's Roost from Dungeon. It was our first session for our current campaign.

If you're interested in using Gorgoldand's Gauntlet (mentioned by arwink and Doppleganger, thanks, guys! ;)), you can find it at the Dungeons and Dragons Adventures site. Click HERE to go to their site. (You'll need to scroll down the page; the adventures are more or less alphabetical.) Gorgoldand's Gauntlet is available there as a free 536 Kb ZIP file.
