looking for a good adventure

First Post
Hi all,

I've been playing for almost a decade now with the same group. We've been playing 3rd ed for more than over a year now, although only one sunday afternoon every few months.

We're planning a weekend now, so I'm looking for the best adventure (d20) I can get for a group of 5 players with character levels 2-3.

I've already played forge of fury in another group and I want a fresh new adventure instead.

Does anyone have some good advice?

well if by a weekend you mean you'll be playing all weekend then Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil should be long enough to sustain you (you'll have to rest a lot at first though)

Thanks for the advice.

I've read RTTTOEE for use with another group, but I think I will need a ful week to play it with my group.

It's too complex (IMHO) to fit in just a weekend

Er...RTToEE is designed for MONTHS of playtime...I wouldn't advocate cramming it into a week, let alone a weekend.

Have you checked out Of Sound Mind? It's designed for 1st level characters, but it's pretty tough for that level, and probably more appropriate for 2nd or 3rd level character.

I second Meepo's suggestion for Of Sound Mind. If you think it is not enough of a challenge as written, advice for scaling is included. I am running it for 3 characters, 4th and 5th level.

Note that it is a psionic-based adventure, but it also contains advice for translating it to non-psionic magic. I have no psionic characters and am keeping it as is, it still works very well. Even if you don't have the Psionics Handbook, the SRD has enough info to run the adventure.

And it's written by our very own Pirate Cat. Don't think he will mind my saying, email him with questions, or post them here. He is very helpful.

Yes, excellent adventure. I also really enjoyed GAXMOORE, I think thats how it's spelled. I not sure what lvls it's geared to. My group played at lvl 6-7.
Good luck, there is an awfull lot of great stuff out there.

If you're looking for a short series of adventures, you could try Fantasy Flights Games short little adventures, tie those together. They are cheap (2.95 a piece) and have the levels listed right there.

I was showing up to pimp Of Sound Mind, but I'm too late! :)

I do think it may be a good choice, though, unless your PCs are only interested in combat. And I echo the comment that it's more appropriate for 2nd-3rd than 1st level. It's an adventure with a... memorable... conclusion, and a series of interesting NPCs and encounter areas. I've tried to tuck some DMing advice in there, too. Folks seem to like it!

In addition, I'd consider getting a subscription to Dungeon Magazine. Best value in gaming.
