Looking for a module

Okay, for a game I am running 4E with a friend I had the idea that the players get to a room with a magic circle in the middle. The room then plane shifts randomly, and the idea is that the players have to gain control of the magic circle to shift the room back to the mortal world and escape.

I mentioned this at work to a DM who's been running games since the 70's, he only runs 2nd now, but he told me Gary has already done this.

Now, are there any knowledgeable people here who can tell me what this module is? Once I have the name, I can put the resources of the web to use and read this myself, as I'd like to see how the problems I see in this scenario are resolved. And I love how in his modules, I get the feeling Gary is just next to me helping me out.

The was an Elric adventure based on a scene in one of the books that worked that way. I can't think of a module from AD&D that had that particular feature.

This is more or less the premise of a sub-quest in Baldur's Gate II. The sub-quest is usually called "the Planar Sphere" in the various guide books for it.

Well of Worlds (Planescape)

the premise is somewhat similiar to the setup for the first adventure in this Collection, meant to get prime Chars to the Planes and eventually to sigil

Doesn't "Hall of Many Panes" from Troll Lord Games fit the bill? It came dual-statted for 3e and Lejendary Adventures, if I recall correctly.

HOMP was the title that first leapt to my mind, too, JvL: I haven't read it in several years, but I don't recall it having a pentagram/magic circle gate in it that's the central hub for the hall, per se. (And, for that matter, I don't know of any Gygax adventure offhand which contains a feature that matches this exactly, either).

Well, I didn't interpret the OP as revolving around the pentagram/magic circle thing. IIRC HOMP used a staircase as central element.

The central element is that the room plane shifts while the characters are in it. The circle is just a feature on the map that I am using as it's convenient (I think it's the Troll King map, either that or Death's Reach)

Hall of Many Planes, can you describe it more? The bloke did say it had a Egyptian sounding name, which is what made me think it was Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun, which it isn't.

I might have to give up.
