Looking for a Pal/Sor Prestige Class

Unfortunately, if you want to be primarily a spellcaster, you don't want a multiclassed sorcerer. Even single-classed, the sorcerer is one level behind the curve when it comes to acquiring new spells. Mixing in another class only slows it more, and you probably can't afford that, especially since you're the main arcane caster for your group. (Past 5th-6th level or so, a strong arcanist becomes more and more necessary to the party's success.)

As you say, it was decent in 3.0 because you only needed one Pal level for divine grace, but 3.5 pushed that back by a level. Now I can't think of any situations where SorX/Pal1 would be superior to SorX+1, even throwing PrCs into the mix.

If you didn't want to stick with spellcasting, the opposite combination would be rather nice. A PalX/Sor1 is very nearly as good a warrior as the single-class paladin, plus he has access to a few very useful spells (like shield and enlarge person) and can use arcane spell trigger items. That doesn't fit your concept, though.

What does the Spellsinger do? What is KPG? Spellsinger sounds elven, is that a prereq (my character is human)?
The elves invented it, but anyone can be a spellsinger. KPG: Kalamar Players Guide. It's official D&D, for more infos, look over here or ask there in the discussion forums. It has a lot of nice diplomacy boost feats as well.
The spellsinger is essentially a sorcerer with as many spells per day as a wizard (gets spell levels earlier as sorcerer) who can cast all spells with only verbal components.
I suppose I got lucky because I played in 3.0, since I started playing as Mnk1?Pal1/Sor2. I felt that I could contribute quite well, although I never really shined in any single area. But I kept to my feet when the others were running away and was pretty versatile. Maybe the party helped as well: we had one (Duellist type) Ftr4, a Mnk4, a Ran1/Rog3 and a Clr4. Thus, no competition from other arcane spellcasters.
So you had a level 9 char in a level 4 group ;)?

Out of curiousity, what is it you dislike about Exalted Arcanist? A straight up conversion to Sorceror/Exalted Arcanist might keep the flavor of your character.

If you want to keep the paladin aspect, you might consider something like:
Pal 2/Sor 10/Sacred Exorcist 8

For Exalted Arcanist you have to get two metamagic feats, Consecrate Spell and Purify Spell. Those feats are only applicable to damage dealing spells, and the last one only truly appropriate for an area of effect spell. Sorcerers don't have that many spells, so the usefullness of these feats is not that great.

My character would be now a Pal2/Sor7 after conversion. If he became an Exalted Arcanist after that, he would be a 11th lvl character before he could throw his first 8d6 Purified Fireball, jay :( . Metamagic feats become less and less usefull if you don't gain enough caster levels because they take higher levels slots you, which you just don't have....

Besides, wizards (and other classes) get immediate access to the new Book of Exalted Deeds spells, while the Sorcerer has to take a prestige class to get access. That just doesn't sound fair to me.... Oh yes, taking a full five levels he gets to cast sanctified spells. Clerics don't have to do anything for that!

As for the other powers. I am not very impressed by a reduced casting time for purified or consecrated spells.

I just think I am better of just staying a straight Pal2/SorcererX and possible picking up a Consecrate Spell feat regardless, instead of losing a caster level by taking the prestige class. That way I get too keep the flavor too, without compromising too much on casting ability...

It sounds like what you really want is a sorcerer with Divine Grace.

To do that, you need either Pal 2 or Holy Liberator 2.

If I were you I'd pick up the two Paladin levels and be done with it.

If you like the idea of an arcanist with combat skills consider playing a Warmage (Miniatures Handbook). They get all the boom spells and a few neat abilities (cast in armor, add Int bonus to dam for all damage spells, etc.)

In fact, Paladin/Warmage is probably a better mix for you.
