Looking for alternatives to official Epic rules

Thanks Maldur, saved me the effort of going upstairs and rooting through the head of our bed to find the book (especially nice since Denise is napping in said bed).

Can you give an example of these? Sounds interesting.

The multiclassing is an interesting option I hadn't considered, but it might not fit the character - he's a single class, not even any prestige classes. I may want to go over the "official" epic rules and look at what feats I'll allow if I just extend the class.

A letdown? Nah. Just different. This game is heading towards its 13th year with the same group of PCs, so people might welcome a change. :)

13 years to get to level 21?

Is it that you don't give out much experience, people die alot, or you just never hold sessions?

If you've seen the old second edition High Level book, the Advanced Players Guide treats the core classes pretty much like in that older product.

As far as I know, they play regularly, but PC has them level up every six months or so. The focus is on what the characters are doing in the world and not getting kewl powerz.

Starman

Bi-weekly games in a game that focuses heavily on story. As well, the DoD are not adverse to burning a Miracle or two here and there. I will hazard a guess that the game is progressing almost exactly as fast as the players and the DM (Piratecat) want it to. If you want more details, check out the Story Hour. Piratecat has a link directly to it in his .sig. There are over 1400 posts and the thread has received over 600,000 views. It is a good read.

Brilliant!

Thanks!

(If my players won't let me be a subtle DM, at least I can be subtle sometimes here...)

ObContent: For those who complain about someone else's game, just remember that Sepelchurve's story hour starts after 14 years of play, around 12th-16th level.

Great help, everyone -- thank you.

I'm definitely extending the PHB progression, with the caveat that you can't exceed 4 ititerative attacks. I've given Velendo the option of selecting an epic feat from the ELH (after discussing it with me so we can consider whether pre-reqs should be ignored) or letting me choose a cool epic-lvl bonus that he'll find out about during play.

For some reason, that just reminded me of those new Guiness draft commercials. Oi.

The Immortal's Handbook: As far as I can tell from UK's thread the Immortal's Handbook does not contain new rules for epic progression. It will however contain a variant epic spellcasting system, but we might have to wait a few months for that.
