Looking for Cohort Suggestions

Hecabus

First Post
I am looking for a cohort to fill the political assassin role. The character qualifies for a 28th level or so cohort, but the dm will probably only allow me a 20th level cohort. The character is a 32nd level Chaotic Neutral Ogre Magi fighter/sorceror who usually runs around in his normal form, but has another identity as the elven advisor/assassin/strong arm of the King that he helped put in power.

What would you build (at 20th and/or 28th level)?

Urban Ranger varient from UA, replace the animal companion with something else (talk to your GM here). Favored Enemy for whatever are the primary humanoid races in the game. Make 'em very good at Gather Information, Sense Motive and the like. Possibly toss in levels in the Assassin PrC if so inclined.

Basically if you want this guy to be a political assassin (instead of just.. you know, the normal kind) you'll want them to be very good at digging up dirt. Urban Ranger will give the guy some staying power in addition to his social role. If you were so inclined, you could just go straight Rogue, or Rogue/Shadowdancer.

Political Assassin

I guess the term "political assassin" is misleading. I'm looking for a cohort to basically work as the King's bodyguard, assassin and generally menacing character. A political assassination could be just bullying someone into dropping their cause, trick them into doing something else, or kill them as a last resort.

The assassin class would work, I just think the spell list is horribly limiting and would like something more flexible or useful. That said the death attack ability would be very nice to have, does any other class get that? I looked at Shadowdancer and I may do it, but the shadows seem very weak compared to the character.

Since the character that is picking up the cohort is a monster class, another monster would work our well. I was thinking of using a doppleganger with the prestige class that let them use their mental powers as a free action to improve their combat ability, but the people on enworld are really creative and usually come up with something really unique that doesn't suck (read powerful.....this game is bordering on broken so it has to be powergamed a bit).
