looking for fugitive modules/adventures...

First Post
i'm running a d20 game right now where the plot amounts to this: the PCs are fugitives who have hijacked the prison ship that they were being transported on. they're dead broke with no resources, and they're on the lamb. also, the characters had no association with each other until the first session. does anyone know of any good modules/adventures based around fugitive, criminal, or pirate PCs? especially anything with a nautical setting would be nice, but really anything that maintains an air of desperation. thanks.

Savage Tide episode #3, from Dungeon Magazine, is all about nautical voyages. There are some great ideas in there to be culled.

has anyone played 7th sea, or the d20 version Swashbuckling Adventures? i'm interested in checking it out, but i'm afraid it may have too much glory and not enough desperation. does anyone have any experience with the setting or its modules?

If the characters are smart, they'll sell the ship.
well, the ship is kind of the crux of the campaign. it's a bit pilfered: namely from the Farscape sci-fi series. it's alive, and has submarine capabilities. my fave NPC is now permanently bonded to it. i really got tired of the "PCs meet in a tavern and decide to start adventuring together, even though they belong to different races, classes, and backgrounds, and they have no common interests or motivations" scenario, and conjured up something that would bind them all together and still allow them to disagree or even hate each other. but hell, i guess they could sell the ship, if they could find a buyer. technically, it belongs to the High Elven Navy, so they would have that force to answer to, but they're welcome to do anything they want.

There are very few adventures of this sort that I recall. (There might have been one from the old Time Master RPG. Umm, Sea Dogs of England.) The dungeon emphasis is opposite to the fugitive notion that you propose. That said, it sounds like a very cool idea.

Have you thought about just outlining various factions who want to capture the PCs, as well as detailing a half dozen islands they can reach along with the inhabitants. That might give you enough organic material to respond to shifts of the wind without limiting your game.

well, i think i found something to my liking: the thieve's world CS. anyone have any experience with this setting? the only problem i can see is that they've only produced one module for it, as far as i can tell. does anyone know of any more? i also found a one-shot called Ring of Thieves that sounds fun (if somewhat linear). comments and suggestions needed....

thanks,
abe.

Few no published adventures come to mind.

But the Farscape SF TV series comes immediately to mind. Rent some DVDs in the first season. Adapt to fantasy (heck, some of the characters are painfully fantasy to begin with. One main character is a priest and another wields a sword...), and away you go. :)

Edit, after finishing the thread:

Thought it looked familiar. :)
