Looking for Gambler Mechanics...

We have a party member who is a degenerate gambler. Is anyone aware of any 3E rules out there that could fit this situation?

I'm sorta thinking along the lines of Character Flaws (Unearthed Arcana) or something like that...

We have the role-play aspect down but we're looking for some mechanics to bring into play.

Not entirely sure what sort of mechanics you're looking for, but there is the Flaw "weak will" that diminishes all Will saves (rather than just those related to gambling).

There's also a section on "substance abuse disorder" (which, imho, seems closest to what you may be looking for), as well as other compulsions in the Sanity rules.

What kind of mechanics? Most games of chance you can just model by dice rolls, right?

If he wants help at gambling better, he could look at Spell Compendium p. 46. There's a Bard, Sorc/Wiz, and Greed domain level 1 spell called Cheat. Once during the duration (min/level), the caster can demand a "reroll" for a non-magical game of chance, such as cards or dice. Anyone observing the game gets a will save to notice something's wrong.

I'm sure some of the luck feats from C.Scoundrel can help...

You could always have a brief poker session mid game, then calculate the amount the PC earns based on how well he did.
