Looking for Gestalt help.

First Post
I'm in a 3.5 game that is Gestalt, and I'm unhappy with my role so far. It's been known in the past that my DM is rather lethal. I expect, with my character being lowish AC and a fighter/rogue, I'll be dead soon.

I want to build a character in reserve for when/if this happens. Campaign starts at level 4, and I want a Naruto-style anime ninja. Don't care how it's done, but that's what I would like to play. I looked for builds before, but they are all level 20 psionic builds, and most of them aren't playable as ninja at lower level.

I'd prefer to be able to jump well, run fast, possibly walk up walls/trees/on water. Weapon preference is Kunai (dagger, both melee and thrown), shuriken and somehow replicating exploding tags. Would like 3/4 BAB at least, to mimic good melee and some way to do "ninjitsu". I know that with only 4 levels to work with, it's difficult, and not much gold either, but I want the flavor there with expansion routes.

Any good melee build has to start with a ToB class. I prefer warblade for this type of thing, but many prefer swordsage.

Look at Tiger Claw, Shadow Hand, etc. Honestly, I think once you open that book the ideas will come flooding into your brain.

Ninja type build, I am assuming you have looked at the Ninja class and have turned away or your going with it and you just need something for the other side of your gestalt build?

If your interested in a class that will help you
move up walls,= spider climb at will!
gives you bonuses to jump & balance cks
help you be utra sneaky with darknes and inviso at will
helps your offense by making your sneak attacks with ranged touch attack at will.

Ninja / Warlock

might be the answer your looking for, the Warlock will offer many things your looking for, just select the invocations that best relect your vision and you can sculpt a build to what you like.

other potential classes that may have something your looking for
rogue / scout / lurk

prtg cls Assassin, always good with this sorta build / Shadow Dancer the shadow dancer is a very good 2 or 3 level dip its very front heavy!

Are you allowed prestige classes? There are some nice ones to add to any build if you are. Invisible blade, master thrower, thief acrobat, ghost face killer are all really nice for your naruto-esk feel. (Pick any one or all :P)

If you are in a position like our games and aren't allowed TOB then may I suggest Ninja/Monk. If used in conjunction with the above prestiges try and take it out of monk whenever possible.

Look at the physical skill tricks (such as Walk the Walls). They can be combined with any class, such as warblade or swordsage. Just sayin'

Ok, lots to look up and read on. Prestige classes are allowed, as per standard Gestalt rules (no mystic theurge type, can be on both sides, but one of the sides has to be non-PrC each level) and book limits are lax, anything WotC is approved for certain, others likely fine just have to ask.

Ok, so I'm really liking some of the things I have read in Tome of Battle. Somewhere right in between Swordsage//Monk and Swordsage//Lurk seems to be where I need character at for my idea. Using the maneuvers to imitate a few of the good "Jutsu's" and most of fighting, and either Monk to kick up the damage style or Lurk to ramp up the "Jutsu" damage. Just a lot of thinking about them to do now. Hmm...

Try Swordsage or Swordsage/Monk/Shadow Sun Ninja (prestige class in Tome of Battle) on one side. I'd recommend a wis-based caster for the other side. Cleric or Druid would work fine, not as familiar with psionics. You can re-flavor the spells to fit your character image, and frankly...if you're not going to have full BAB in a gestalt game, you SHOULD have full casting, generally.

Since Naruto's a kid, are you willing to play a minja (mini ninja)? Small races are actually decent as casters, and with maneuvers and/or sneak attack, the weak weapon damage is not as big of a hindrance, either.* There are some nice small racial options. I like Whisper Gnome from Races of Stone a lot, though Forest Gnome (Monster Manual) and Water Halflings are cool, too. If you pick a small race, get Soaring Raptor Strike maneuver from Tiger Claw as soon as you qualify, it's great damage for a level 3 maneuver, but only against foes larger than you.

*If you go Shadow Sun Ninja, you might not want to. Seems like one of the key strategies with that class is to skyrocket your base unarmed damage, which being small greatly hinders.
