Looking for ideas on a Paladin/Sorceror or a Rogue/Wizard

I would definately go for a Rog/Sor (I know you said Rog/Wiz, but if you can go for Sor).

Why? Arcane Trickster from Tome and Blood. Pick up three levels of rogue and six in sorcerer.

Won't work. You need four levels of rogue, owing to the fact that decipher script is an exclusive skill; you need 7 ranks and ergo need 4 levels in classes that have decipher script as a class ability. That being the case, sorcerer just delays the acquisition of the prestige class by a level, meaning you won't be able to take a level of trickster until 11th. You are better off getting the class sooner. Go with rog4/wiz5 then jump to arcane trickster if at all possible.

Pal1/Sor10

Jus' take th' Paladin at 1st level (fer th' saves an' Detect Evil an' emergency healing), then do Sorceror. Concentrate on Enchantments, an' put all o' your stat increases into Cha.

Feats: Spell Focus (Ench), Greater Spell Focus (Ench), etc.

If th' DM is likely to throw mucho echantment-resistant creatures at you (like UD), concider Transmutation instead. Then swap out spell focus feats fer some (well-chosen) meta-magic feats, like extend spell, and silent spell. Paladins can be sneaky too! (Most aren't, but that's 'cause o' that low Int stat o' theirs!)

And....concider taking (only) one level in "Mind Bender" from T&B. Why? Fer th' Telepathy, stupid! "Secret Party-only messages" anyone? (No scrying on Telepathy.) You *can* get th' prereqs. by 6th level...you just have to be careful.

...But above all: If yer wantin' a spell caster, only take one level of another class....otherwise you'll be one weak b@stard, an' I'll shine me boots wit' yer mangy scalp.

Ah, missed that part in the rules on multiclass skills. As for wizard being better, it's a tradeoff. If you want the class one level sooner, go wizard. If you don't want to loose class features (2 bonus feats), go sorcerer. the downside to sorcerer really is that you'd be 6/4, which is an xp penalty unless you're a halfling, half-elf, or human.

After all these good ideas, i think i'm going to play a paladin 2/sorceror 8/war wizard of cormyr 1.

I think he'll have a story something like this:
Started as a paladin, crusaded land for justice.
Horrible magic-based tragedy sent him into a dark spiral of despair.
Something in him jolted "awake" by the incident and, instead of being bitter, used newfound power to crusade as he once did as a paladin, specializing in warfare.

Any thoughts?
