Looking for "Secondeath"

Thurbane

First Post
Hi,

I'm looking for the source of a weapon, possibly 1E or 2E, called Secondeath, or perhaps Second Death. I believe it was an undead slaying sword.

I've statted up a weapon using that name for my own game, but was wondering about the original.

I'm almost certain I recall the name from somewhere in a D&D product...

Thanks - T

I was in a 1E game that had a sword named second death - I don't know where the idea came from for the DM, but in this case the sword was originally designed to kill constructs - it triggered a disintegration effect on a natural 20, but if you used it on a living creature and rolled a 1, it did the same thing to the wielder (it had a warning about using it on living things written on the blade)...

Thanks for the replies.

I believe the one I am thinking of was listed in the 2E Magic Cyclopedia thingies (the two thin booklets that only had lists, but not descriptions), but didn't actually make it into the 4 volume softbound set...

That's the info from the index. You are right it did not make it into the actual magic item compendium books. I don't have that magazine so that is all the info I can get for you. Hopefully someone with it will see it and be able to provide more details.
