I liked the episode, but ooh it's irritating when main characters don't talk to each other for no good reason.

"Hey Locke, be careful. There's C4 explosives all over this place. Don't do anything to set it off."

"Sure thing Kate. I was fiddling around with the computer, which has some interesting secrets we might want to look into. How about Sayid uses his army training to disarm the explosives so we can safely plumb the depths of this new mystery?"

The rest of the episode, though, I'm a big fan of.

Fun episode, and we learned a little bit, too.

We did? I guess I didn't see it that way. The only thing I got out of it was that the Others are not Dharma. Even that could be a lie, seeing as how it came from an Other.

Heck, my favorite part of the episode was Paulo offering Sawyer the magazine after he went to the bathroom.

This is a prime example, in my mind, where they try to use the mythology without actually answering any questions to make it worthwhile. It makes the show boring. It didn't help that Sayid's flashbacks sucked either. Then there's the Deus Ex Machina of Locke blowing up the building so no answers could be gleaned from it later. Sooner or later, you have to give the horse a carrot to eat.

Also, the episode was a huge waste of Mira Furlan.

Awful episode, the worst this season I think.

It was ok. Any 'reveal' from an other is most likely a misdirection. Show us, don't have a character we have reason not to trust tell us.

Why do they spend so much time with recreation? They act more like they are on vacation than stranded on the island. Its fun seeing Hurley Sawyer go at it, but still they are awful comfortable now.

Locke is officially a total loser now, they are in hostile territory and he is playing chess? They have a captive he is watching and he is playing chess? The whole chess thing was stupid and that whole plot point could have been done much better I'm sure.

Still it was good compared to most of season 3. It should have been solid but for some reason it fell short.

No. Fricken'. Kidding. The whole 'refusing to talk to each other' thing, especially in hostile territory, is fascinatingly stupid. Insult the audience much?

And what a dreadful waste of Mira Furlan. "My character will probably get in the way in the next part of this story, so I'm just going to go, uh, stand by this stream. See you at the end of the episode!".

And still, it was one of the better episodes of Season 3 (but anything with the Others still sucks).

I figured the Frenchwoman was simply foreshadowing what was to come. They're not out of the woods yet. Sayyid has been shot, he's in the jungle so probably prone to infection, they're low on meds (I think), and they've lost their doctor. Could be a fair chance we'll lose Sayyid.

The whole thing with Locke sitting down to play that game, after knowing that there was still someone around, and that these people are some of the Others, was rather stupid of him. I mean, though overly reliant on faith, he's seemed like a pretty capable fellow until just now. Why would he ever have taken his eyes off the prisoner?

Most angering to me is the "look, you have all this Dharma info you can read from notebooks or watch the video and see what other clips and choices you have" and then the writers blow it up. Just to screw with us.
