Note that I have no strong feelings on the subject - don't really care how they decide to explain it as long as I'm entertained. (so I'm not posting this to support any particular point of view)

Thanks. That seems a lot more in the scope of the show, as the show is presented.

What if it's not so much the island that has magical healing powers, but Locke! Or at the very least, the island in conjunction with Locke. Think about it. He was able to heal himself from paralysis when he hit the island. Everyone around him seems to be cured (Rose of her cancer, Jin of his sterile-ness). Even Benry who was confined to a bed and a wheelchair can not walk with a cane when Locke came around.

This is along the lines of what I've been thinking.

Remember when Locke and the green-eyed boy who loved his stepsister (name? I'm pregnant, I forget things easily...) were exploring and found the airplane? Suddenly Locke woke up one morning and his legs wouldn't work.

I think that Locke didn't kill his own father and wanted Sawyer to do it because he thought if he did it himself, he would lose his ability to walk again. I'm not sure why I think that, but it's just something I intuited. I think that's also why Ben wanted him to do it - to see if it would take away his healed legs.
