I think a lot of secrets we know as veiwers came outthis episode to the general populace on the island. but not a whole lot knew to us except for what the little plane means to kate.
I thought it was weird that the guard was waiting at her mother's room. Had Kate just committed the crime or just escaped? Would seem odd for her to be a fugitive for any length of time and have her mother's room watched. Maybe had the hopsital notified she might show up but to actually have a guard there is extreme. It may have just been a plot device to introduce her best friend.
I think Walt's ability is to see things by contact. I think he didn't know anything from Locke until he grabbed him or am I miss remembering?
Walt's more a seer than a telepath. He sees and knows things before they happen or at least that is were the hints point. He may not know what is in the Hatch but knows its bad and wants to now raft it out of there. He may have even told his dad to keep locke from ratting him out later and hurting his chances of leaving.
Yeah Kate is meaner than we thought. She is probably that way as a survival technique considering what they have hinted she has gone through. She manipulates to survive. Not much of an excuse but a way of looking at her motivations.

I saw all those liscense plates in Kates car and I am thinking she is some hardened criminal. And I missed a few minutes but where did that little plane come from lying on the beach. She didn't seem to grab anything when she ran out of the car after the doctor got shot.

How much do you want to bet that Kate's doctor and Jack had something in common and knew each other, say as room mates in collage or interns...We now see why she likes Jack.

The name of the actor who plays the science teacher is on the tip of my tongue. I will note that he had a hidden camera show recently, where he was usually in the hidden camera bit (like as a waiter or what have you). Pretty funny show, actually, but seeing as how I can't remember the name of it, iether, I'm not much help. Maybe that will spark someone else's memory. He's a stand-up comic, not so much an actor, btw.
