Lost - "Left Behind" - 04/04/07 (Spoilers)

The best part of the episode was Juliet screaming in agony. Worth the price of admission.

Of course, the idiots are taking her back with them - hopefully not due to any form of misplaced kindness, but to "extract" information from that lying Other freak.

I'm wondering why Jack, Kate, and Sayyid don't just bring the rest of the survivors to the Others' village....at least they'd have running water, food, electricity etc. Sure, the Others could come back....but really, if they *really* want to hurt the survivors, they know exactly where they live, and it wouldn't really be that difficult to attack their beach camp.
No fricking kidding. Running water, electricity, and a bloody pool table among other bits of infrastructure. It's the first thing I thought - you dumbasses better be going back to the beach to get everyone to come to your new home - all the amenities of life back in civilization, and a special security wall to stay safe from the smoke monster.

Just beat the security code out of Juliet.

Blast your eyes dravot, you beat me to it this week. I liked this episode better than I did last weeks.

I was not surprised by
Juliet having a key
, but the shoulder thing was an interesting twist. Further, I do not put much stock in Juliet assertion they do not
know what the smoke monster is and cannot control it.
I think that is also part of the ruse.

Presumably, the Others went to the smaller island when they fled the Village as part of some bizarre and unnecessarily complicated scheme. Their behavior, presumably under the leadership of Benry, is becoming more erratic. Benry goes to extraordinary lengths to control people for the sake of controlling them.

The chick fight was fun, but then chick fights that end up in mud at some point are almost always fun.

Juliet admitted the others new about smokey and that it doesn't like the sonic fence

My wife and I said the same thing. It would be stupid of them to stay on the beach when there is a livable village one or two days walk from the beach

Presumably J will need to use the code to get out of town, as the fence is on and they are on the inside.

But I still think the Others have some control over the thing, at least to some degree beyond the fence - I believe they can sic it on people or targets like a trained attack dog.

Jack never really wanted to be a leader, but ended up in the position by default. However he and Sawyer may dislike it, I expect he will return to that position. But it is funny to see Hurley become proactive and manipulative. He might make a suitable candidate for the Others.

I think the operative question is why did the Others flee the village is why? It seems an overreaction if they are fleeing - or even just temporarily retreating - so as to avoid the castaways. However, it is probably a ploy on Benry's part and is designed to manipulate them as much as it is to manipulate the castaways. However, the show does need to present a solid reason for not returning to the village.

What was the light flashes with the smoke and why did it appear to drive the it away. This was new, I thought. Why, split the group up? The only mind game being played is on Kate, once an other, always an Other. Claire, watch your baby!

The others move on, guess what I would be doing. Yep, moving in, get off that beach and squat. They have a pool table! Okay, so, there is that whole crossing the line issue but you know what, I would risk it.

Flashback was interesting but you know what, so what, everyone knows Kevin Bacon, we know that, why?

Hugo and Sawyer, priceless.
I thought the lights were coming from the smoke monster. The sounds that were happening when the lights flashed reminded me of the sounds when Eko looked into the monster and saw flashes of his past.

You take that and the look on Juliet's face after that scene and I think the monster showed her some pretty disturbing things about her past.

I'll echo the comments that if the castaways don't move into the village, then they're just as incredibly stupid as some of the complaints have made them out to be (and I'll reluctantly find myself edging closer to the WTF? camp). It just wouldn't make any sense not to- nice housing and accomodations, running water, electricity, security. Even if the Others sabotaged some of those things (they seemed to trash at least Jack's house), it wouldn't take too much work to get them back into some semblance of normalcy, particularly with what the castaways already know about the hatches and power lines, etc. on the island, and would still be better (even trashed) than what they've got now. They've also got a running jeep that they could make runs for Dharma supply pickups with. They could leave someone or something at the beach in case they spot a rescue ship still; heck, if they're smart they'll go back to the Pearl to see if any of the cameras there have beach-views, and could leave a monitor in that station.
