Lost Mithril (B4cchus judging)

Mithril? Elise whispers Oh, yes, ah, mithril. Um, if I can sway any, allies make, er well they'd be more likely to speak the truth. Elise stammers out sounding a bit embarrased.

As Elise summons the ethereal horse, there is a sudden burst of sound and action as all of the kobolds either scream or begin to freak out. Several run to the back of their shelter and cower. One passes straight out. The kobold by the group quickly runs to get something between her and the horse.

Over the moans and whimpers of terror you are just able to hear Ppklik say, "No! Don't kill! We do what you wants! Anything! Please don't kills! We not do anything! What you want?!?! We your friends! Not kill us! Not kill us!"

Elise extends her hands in the symbol of peace. I want to help you. Elise seems unsurprised if maybe a little disappointed. There is a better way. She looks to the others, sadly. She stops a moment at a loss of what else to say.

Ces seems a bit amuses by the turn of event. They look scared, I am sure that they will tell us what they know now. I don't think they will dare not to cooperate. And with a little teasing in the voice he adds but I don't think it was necessary to scare them that way, they were afraid enough of us before.

Elise rolls her eyes and sighs, a slight grin crosses her features.

OoC: What knowledge would it be to find out if Elise has read some Kobold info. How do they pick there leaders?

You would know that several conditions affect kobold leadership choices. Typically, the most powerful shaman runs the tribe with a group of his close followers, all of them either magic users or the craftiest warriors. Sometimes, a powerful warrior will run the tribe with the mage as his adviser, but this is more rare. It is male dominated society, with pups and females being slightly better than cattle. In spite of this, they have a very rigidly designed tribal structure with each kobold knowing his/her specific place. The pecking order is just as hotly fought over in the female hierarchy as in the male. Advancement is achieved by proving your intelligence, cunning, or magical prowess. Upstarts are killed out of hand, and it's legal to kill your superior (if you do it with enough guile).

Obviously, something is extremely wrong for this tribe to only have one male according to the texts. With the numbers you've seen of females and pups, there should be at least 10 more adult males.

ooc: That would fall under Knowledge(Local) having to do with (legends, personalities, inhabitants, laws, customs, traditions, humanoids). In this specific case, arcana also helps since this typically a magocracy governed race. And for the record, you Knowledge is awesome... :D

[sblock]OoC: Well Elise did do a summester of reptilian races back at the acadamy. ;) That with the tidbits from her Draconic classes...

I'll post an action after I get back in a few hours.[/sblock]

There is a better way! If you continue like this... How long will it be till you are all wiped out? Who will protect you? This one? Elise motions to the head female. This one? To the unconscious male. There is a better way! We could help each other, Kobold and human, working toward a common goal. Food, shelter, warmth.

There is a better way. And with a snap the summoned horse disappears, Elise holds her breath.

Although the terrified moaning lessens when the horse is dispelled, few of the kobolds pull their faces out of the dirt. One kobold (Ppklik you assume), sits up to her haunches and snarls back, "All humans only kill us. Why you think we almost deads now? Humans only want kill and starve us. Kktkek only chance at life." The expression on it's face changes from anger to ... worry? "You give Kktkek back, and we tell you what we knows? Then you go away? That way we all live?"

How can that be true? I'm human and I've led you to no ill will. I don't wish you hungry or harmed. I want to help you, all of you! You don't have to go hungry. Elise falters.

She waits till Ppklik gives her retort and she yells out. And does she speak for everyone? Are you content to live as you are now, hungry and hunted? She pauses to gauge the others reactions.
