I'm pretty open minded about Lost but even I have some skepticism about the show being able to be successful for 6-8 years. I trust JJ Abrams if he says that but it sounds like such a hard sell.

I can't trust JJ and the others on that. None of the creators has shown the ability to do that so far in their careers, and Abrams' most successful show, Alias has the entire world to work with, allowing for many more plausible plots. If, for example, that hatch opens a portal to some giant hollow Earth or something... well, then there'd at least be the space for 6 to 8 years, but they'd lose a ton of viewers if they went that far off of reality, I suspect.

I don't see how they can possibly do it. 3 years would be very impressive, given the show's premise.
