Lost: the Journey

Watched the whole thing even though it wasn't anything new. Was nice to see things in sequence again after all the breaks we've had.

Two things I thought were interesting.

1) Which my girlfriend brought up. They haven't seen or heard from the "monster" in the forest since Locke had his encounter with it. Coincidence?

2) The narration at the end tonight which talked over the end of the last new episode.

Showing Jack after Boone died and then declaring that Boone was murdered and storming off to look for John, the narrator stated:
"One who failed and lost his faith"

Then showing Locke crying and pounding on the hatch until the light comes on:
"Another who failed, but found his faith restored"

(I didn't record it so these quotes aren't verbatim, but I just thought they were interesting.)

It's also interesting to note what this recap show spotlighted, and what it didn't.

The "monster" got a good deal of coverage.

Jack seeing his dead father got no coverage.

Hurley's numbers got no coverage. But that might be because none of the character's backstories were shown at all, including the possibilites of Walt and Claire's baby being somewhat supernatural.

They showed Walt reading the comic about the polar bear, but they didn't show the actual polar bear scene.

I don't know if any of these inclusions and ommissions on the recap show mean anything. They did have to cram in multiple episodes into one hour, after all, and with a show this dense, I'm sure important stuff had to be cut.

But they definitely didn't want us to forget about the monster.

Waht about the "trailer" for next week? Does Locke actually bite it? Does Sayid do it for Shannon?

A guess but what if that was one of those dream sequences like when Boon thought his sister had died

Magic spot is my feeling, you know the spot...upper shoulder...but it could be a flash back, how he ends up in the chair. Does Sayid do it? No, I don't think so but... :D

Yeah, I thought that was very interesting. I think the voiceover was phrased as questions:

"What if you failed and lost your faith? But what if you failed yet your faith was restored?"

I go with the theory that if they show something like that, it's definately not what it appears. If Locke really does bite it, that would be lame that they would have 'spoiled' it like that. So I'm guessing dream/flashback sequence, or "just a flesh wound". ;)

RedShirt, thanks I think you're right about it being a question. Not sure what it means, but make you go "hmm" :)
