LoTR Dunedain Prestige Class

I'm putting together a Fouth Age Middle Earth campaign, and am having a hard time statting out the Dunedain. My problem is that the core ranger (especially in 3.5) really does a pretty good job in describing what I want, besides specific requirements like being a Numenorean or an Elf and having points in Survival (Wilderness Lore in 3.0). I don't want to make a prestige class that doesn't give any advantages over the standard ranger class, but I also want to stay pretty close to the group headed by Strider (Aragorn, King Elessil) in the books.

Any ideas, or should I just bag the whole prestige class idea and just make membership a role-play experience instead?

Apologies for spelling in advance.

The Dunedain are a race, not a class. As the Encyclopedia of Arda says:

A term used in Middle-earth for the Men of Númenor and (especially) their descendants in Arnor and Gondor after the Downfall in II 3319.

Thus, "Dunedain" really just means "Numenorian from Arnor or Gondor".
