LotR:RotK ee DVD - an extra hour

One of the Visual Effects dudes from LotR is from Wisconsin. In today's paper, there was a story about him, which you can see online.

He estimated that the extended DVD of RotK will add more than an hour to the running time. He should know--he's working on it right now.

Rygiel estimated that the extended version will be more than an hour longer than the three-hour, 30-minute film, and the extra footage will include another 300 special-effects shots.

I read some other place online that they would be putting in 50-55 minutes in the EE.
I had heard somewhere that it would only add 30 minutes. So, I was quite excited to hear someone (hopefully) "in the know" say there would probably be more than an hour added.

i heard that there is going to be a couple of hours added in, including the cut sauroman, and more ending parts for the other characters. i'm hoping for this, making it just under 6 hours long.

looking for link that i got this from, but i believe it was from PJ.

There was, though, a quote where the interviewer suggested there would be another 30 minutes of material, with PJ saying either:

1. "More like an hour"

or

2. "More than an hour"

I guess if it was the latter then I guess someone could extrapolate it to two hours. :) I'd guess it will be more like the former.

The article I linked to in the first post does say:

Much of the new footage will feature Christopher Lee's character, Saruman, he said. Lee's scenes were cut from the theatrical release.

While I really want to see Christopher Lee, I don't really want an hour of just Saruman stuff. There's enough other stuff that feels too rushed or incomplete in RotK. I'm hoping that "much of" means 15 minutes or less, with the rest of the extra hour+ devoted to other scenes and characters.

I think Christopher Lee deserve an hour on that last film, since they cut out his scene completely from the theatrical version. ;)

I'm also hoping they include the House of Healing scene, where Eowyn and Faramir first meet.

I doubt that it would only have 30 mins of extra footage since the other 2 movies had over 40 minutes each. just doesn't seem right for RotK to have less.

I know the Houses of healing and Christopher Lee's scenes are going in. The offical site says to check back on March 8th for DVD info. I'm hoping they have some EE info as well.
