I (and I would hazard to say most of the posters in the other thread) were well aware that this was an April Fool's prank well before Roleplaying Cougars was announced on Friday.
I wasn't offended because I fell for a prank. I was offended because the butt of the joke wasn't Nicolas Logue (who really deserves more than a few jabs at this point). It was the people who pre-ordered and were waiting for this title to come out for several years.
I thought it was mean-spirited to play on (or make fun of) the hopes of gamers (and potential customers) who had been burned by Sinister Adventures and Nick Logue. Why pick at a scab?
After the announcement, Louis went so far as to delete some comments off of his blog that weren't complimentary to him (and were by no means vulgar). If you weren't laughing with him, you weren't to be heard at all.
All of that taken together leads me to believe that Louis showed very poor judgment with regards to the feelings of others, and yet was quite thin-skinned concerning comments made about him.
If in the future, Louis shows as much concern for the feelings of others as he does for himself, he'll be well-served.
All of that being said, Louis apologized, and that's good enough.
In the future, I'd consider buying products from Louis, if they were well-reviewed by others. Unrelated to this whole April Fool's thing, I haven't bought his stuff for a while because I wasn't very impressed with what I had previously bought. If he puts something out that is well-received, I'll probably buy it. The April Fool's thing won't factor into my future buying decisions.
Louis...for your next attempt at public humor, go with self-deprecating. As long as you're okay with it, nobody is likely to object...
