~ Day 20, morning: snowy foothills of Yarendel ~

With the tents and blankets those not on watch were warm enough to get a good night's rest. The temperature was very cold during the night, but the cold weather gear worn by those on watch was effective. Though higher in the mountains that might not be the case any longer.

Any pursuit from the port city had not materialized during the night, and the light snow falling the previous evening covered the tracks with an inch of fresh powder. It was enough to make things very hard for the average guards, bu not enough to fool an expert tracker.

Morning came and the sky was overcast, but the snowing had stopped during the night. The landscape was fresh with unmarked snow until the group started moving around getting ready to break camp and resume their journey.

The road being followed the night before continued to head deeper into the mountains and away from the port city and the coastline.

Yosephus went inside the tent and went to sleep.

When he was on watch, nothing had happened. When the sun was up and the snow had stopped, he went back inside Charity's tent and said in a loud voice, "It's morning guys, wake up." The the cleric trudged over to Francis's tent and woke him up too.

Like every morning, Yosephus needed to do his morning prayres. He did that in front of the tent and when he finished, the cleric had renewed his spells. So all he had to do was to get ready to set off into the mountains.

Yosephus went back inside the female waarrior's tent and packed his things (like his bedroll). The he waited for the others to finish getting ready. "I'll be outside," the cleric said and left the tent.

Francis quickly pops out of his tent and ruffles the ears of his dumb pig. He packs up his belongings, and eats his rations for the day while the cleric meditates. Once satisfied, he takes the rest of the morning hour to erase any evidence of their tracks. As the group comes together after all are awake, he looks around and points to the mountain. "To the toppermost of the poppermost!"

Jarred to partial wakefulness by Yosephus, Charity mutters, "Yere not me sister, tis not me bed...." Shuddering, the crisp morning air provides the young woman with a physical reminder of the situation. She looks around slowly. "Oh, yes..." With that, she begins getting herself ready for the day without further comment. Of particular issue, her hair requires a decent brushing, which she executes with patience, until she is finally presentable.

When her watch shift is complete she stumbles back into the bedding and curls up in a fetal position to keep her core heat contained. When the new day dawns and she's wakened by Yosephus she springs from the blankets with new energy and once more does her part in tearing down the camp they'd worked to pitch the night before.

Finishing her morning preparations with a short devotional, performed while facing the sun, Charity finally looks ready for the day ahead. She assists with breaking the camp and making sure all the items get back to their proper owners, then nods. "Yes I think it is time we paid this queen a visit, Yosephus. ~ Day 20, noon: Snowy foothills of Yarendel ~

Having finished breaking camp, the group of insurgents… er, adventurers continued a renewed trek to climb higher and deeper into the mountains. The way was slow going and behind they were leaving a track of passage through the snow covering the road.

As the sky was brightening with the rising sun, it did warm up some (relatively), and the snow began to sparkle as it reflected the light.

Throughout the morning, there was no sign of other travelers using the road, either coming up behind or from up ahead to descend the mountains.

Close to midday, the road leveled off and was approaching a clearing. There was a wooden structure building, with a snow covered roof. There were wisps of smoke winding up into the sky from its chimney.

"An possible inn hospitable! Perhaps we should say hello, warm up for a bit? It's unlikely they have news of our dust-up in the city. Mind if I carry the introductions? I suppose we need not be entirely truthful of who we are or what are purpose is, but we can still surely be friendly enough." Francis smiles, then looks back at their tracks behind them. "Well that certainly won't do.... not one bit." As the group ponders his suggestion, the halfling gets busy cleaning up their tracks in the snow by humming along and twinkling his fingers in a motion most dandy.

"Well, Francis, it's pretty likely they will not have heard about what happened in the city," she begins, parsing her words in cadence with her steps. "It's also my hope that whatever fear, respect, or adoration the people in the city have for the queen will be weaker out here. Perhaps we can learn something. It still may require a roundabout way of getting to the information we are looking for, but that is the nature of things." Looking past a mop of red hair and over her shoulder, Charity adds, "Cute, I hope it works."
