[LPF] Don't Let It Go!

~ Day 19, early-evening: snowy foothills of Yarendel ~

The group trudged through the falling snow, following the track of a snow covered road that let towards the mountains overlooking the port city. While the snow was helping to evade pursuit, it was also making it harder to see for any distance. Even so, the terrain turned to forest and the cleared width of the road was still easy enough to follow without getting sidetracked.

It was hard to judge progress and the normal walking pace had been slowed due to the snow after the first hour, but the elevation was increasing. After another few hours it was starting to grow dark with the sun setting. The temperature was dropping as well.

As the sun begins to set, the halfling yawns. "Long day, neh? Shall we pull over?" He looks around either side of the road, but doesn't see anything suitable as far as a place to set up camp for the night.

Charity, Human Female
"Yes, it would seem to be time to make camp," Charity begins, noting the fading light. "I suppose we'll want to be out of sight of the road, if possible. That gives patrols a chance to pass us by. I'm not sure if we will want a campfire, it would seem a questionable idea with the potential for reigniting pursuit."

After waiting a bit for interjection, the red-headed venzan continues. "Anyone still hurting from the fight back there? We will want to heal up before settling down for the night. And I guess choose watches in case something stumbles upon us during the night."

Francis looks at his own wounds, then those of his pig, and back to Charity. With a rolled-out lower lip filled with sadness and rife with pain, he nods his head.

Her green eyes looking over each of her compatriots, Charity thinks a moment. "Looks like several people are still beat up a bit. I can extend my healing energies like one of the priests, although not nearly as well. Perhaps it's just the thing for when we are not in the midst of fending off enemies."

Yosephus trudged through the snow, following his group up into the mountains.

As they walked right next to the forest, the cleric said, "Let's spend the night here, inside the forest. Like what you said, Charity, the guards won't find us easily if we don't make a fire." He stopped with his group mates.

Then he replied to Charity's second suggestion, "I have Channel Energy that I can use, if we need to. The guards could come at any time." He added, "We can also have one of us watching, so we will know when they come."

~ Day 19, early-evening: snowy foothills of Yarendel ~

So far the guards had not caught up to the group and there were no signs yet of an actual pursuit hot on the group's trail. Aishe's ringing in her ears eventually stopped and she could hear normally again.

It would take some outdoorsmanship to find a decent campsite (more than Francis's lame attempt), but even the unskilled could find a place that would not be visible from the road if they lit a fire... assuming they found some usable firewood.

Yosephus's channel energy healed up the minor scrapes and bruises from the battle with the guards.

"Thank you good friend Yosephus! The prince of all halflings is forever at your service, and will ne'er speak ill of you to neither kings nor vagabonds." Francis clasps his hands together, fingers flat against the opposite hands, and bows lowly. "Once we find somewhere suitable, I can offer myself and my pig to first watch. Do we want to try any of the local cuisine, or shall we dig into our rations?"

"No matter what we choose, let me help prepare dinner. I can deliver quite a fine meal, perhaps exquisite, even in situations like this if I do say so myself."

[sblock=OOC]I'm assuming some one else can roll a K. Nature or Survival check? Or the GM will have us just find a sight? Would a separate survival check be in order to find food? [/sblock]

[sblock=GM Note on Survival]
I'm assuming someone else can roll a K. Nature or Survival check? Or the GM will have us just find a sight? Would a separate survival check be in order to find food?
Please look up Survival for Surviving in the Wilderness. Knowledge nature is not really applicable.

Normally Take 10 for even your party’s Skill in Survival would be enough to scrounge some food. But under the circumstances, I think you will be suffering a +5 to the standard DC 10 check for getting along in the wild because of the winter.

As for finding a camp and getting firewood, it would be a DC10 and should be auto accomplished with Take 10. You all just need to role-play it out and declare the actions.

Considering the weather conditions, you all might have to roll Fortitude Checks to be able to get decent rest overnight and not wake up fatigued.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]When does bard spells/performances and halfling adaptable luck reset? At midnight, or in the morning?

I'll take a +2 luck to the the fort save if it resets before the fatigue roll. Would I also get a plus if I set up my tent?[/sblock]
