Pathfinder 1E [LPF] The Sea Sprite

Besides the creature they are fighting, the party also sees a captain's cabin with the door kicked in at the aft of the ship, a crow's nest in the main mast, and a ladder down into the ship's hold.

[sblock=OOC]How many rounds to get there and then to climb the ladder to the crow's nest?
How tall is it?
How would the DC for climbing up to the nest work?[/sblock]

One combat round to get there, three to climb all the way to the crow's nest if you are in a hurry with a DC 8 Climb check each round. Really, I'll just let you get there slowly and without a DC roll once you kill the last sahuagin.

Aelspeth Noromiel, Fledgling Conjurer

Aelspeth thrusts at the sahuagin's throat with her quarterstaff. Unused to the gentle rocking of the deck beneath her feet (and having only rudimentary hand-to-hand training), her strike veers wide right. Instead of a choked burble, the enemy lets out a throaty, gargling laugh.

Aelspeth and Arradon both miss, but Qalabash kills the final sahuagin with a strong strike to the neck. The creature falls silent and soon after its prone body shudders in a death rattle.

Now that the deck is cleared, Francis John can easily climb up to the crow's nest at the top of the Sea Sprite. At the aft of the ship is the captain's cabin, with its door broken down and crushed in. Towards the fore is the stair down into the ship, though it is poorly lit with turned low lantern lights.

OOC: That was a CR 4 encounter, with 1200 XP earned by the party.

"Alright guys. Me thinks I'm gonna climb to the toppermost of the poppermost, to see what I can see. You don't have to wait for me if you don't want, or we can have a celebration upon my successful return! Farewell!!!"

Francis climbs to the top of the crow's nest.

Francis John
[sblock]
You get to the very top and look around. For the most part, all you can see is sea, and the now quiet deck of the Sea Sprite. The surrounding waters look safe and shark free, while the men who rowed you here chat to one another in low voices and await your return.

Arradon Delgaran

[section]
Upon seeing the second sahuagin fall, Arradon breathes a sigh of relief. "Glad that's over." He winches as he lightly touches the trident wound on his flank, his fingers feeling the torn leather. "Damn, gonna have to patch that at some point." He carefully makes his way to his dagger embedded in the deck and tugs it free, returning it to its sheath. He does the same with the dagger that embedded itself in the mast.

I'll be finished with my field work tomorrow, probably take me a couple days to get home. Internet access will be unreliable on the journey home, but I will try to post when I can.

At the top of the crow's nest, the halfling takes the deepest breath of the fresh salty air. The evening lights of Venza, city of glass, glow from afar. One invigorating moment of absolution vanishes quickly as Francis realizes he has to climb down, and get down to more of the dirty business.

He returns to the group on the main deck and reports what he saw. "At the aft of the ship is the captain's cabin, with its door broken down and crushed in. Towards the fore is the stair down into the ship, though it is poorly lit with turned low lantern lights. So.... which way do we want to go? I am not known for my bravery, so I would rather not lead the way."

Qalabash Baram

[section]
Qalabash thumps the sahuagin again just to make sure its dead. He then looks over at Arradon.

"Don't take a chance. Get, uh... the wand of healing used on that wound. We need you at full fighting strength."

The old man looks around like he's forgotten who he gave his healing wand to. Shrugging he turns to Francis John.

"Good work! When we get fully regrouped I would be pleased to take the lead. Though perhaps Leira would like the honor? Regardless, the captain's cabin sounds like a splendid first choice. I would rather not have whatever might be in there coming down after us into the bowels of the ship, pinning us in down there."
