I am curious: in what way do you percieve he has used the Razor Coast customers as a medium for the joke?

Sadly I've been ninja'd in the way I'd have explained it.

That said, I'll put it this way - Was LPJ unaware that people desperate for/hoping for some positive news wouldn't latch on this?

The wisdom of their doing so is not the issue, the fact that he knew his audience.

And yeah, it wouldn't bother some people who are out the money. But he had to have known it would.

Why ever put yourself in a situation where you do that?

Especially when he could have perhaps done it in a way where it didn't actively involve those persons?

Imagine this. Sinister accepts pre-orders but does not accept any money up front.

This then becomes one publisher lampooning another, with really only the two of them involved.

Add in people out pre-order money and you've suddenly involved them, whether you intended to or not.

That's what I mean.

I don't think that's funny at all - and I'm pretty sure neither does Louis. And I'm not laughing at you. If I'm laughing at anyone, it's that butt-hat Nick Logue, who hopefully will never work in this industry again.

Okay, I'm sorry for flying off the handle. I just can't see the funny side of it.

And what you say about Nick is right.

The thing about all of this, what Louis doesn't seem to understand, is that things like this (getting burned by publishers) means that people are less likely to dig into their pockets for pre-releases (money often used by publishers to see projects through), might decide that any and all third party publishers aren't trustworthy so stop buying from them and, in a worse case scenario, become disillusioned enough to stop playing entirely. All because of one publisher.

And what really gets me is that one of the projects (Razor Coast) is done. It was handed over to Nick and all he needs to do is produce the actual book (ie it was handed over in, presumably, word format). I think it's that which has really seen people turn against him.

Not a problem, friend. I totally get where you are coming from. B-)

And good point about pre-releases/kickstarters. Everyone is always like, "oh no problem - you don't have to pay anything if they don't raise the money." But if they *do* raise the money, they get that cash up front and you have to trust in them to deliver. Nick Logue's actions just made that trust harder to give.

May I quickly interject with the thread kiss of death and thank everyone for remaining civil?

Emotions high, etc.

Seeing the exchange between Kyngdoms and jaerdaph reminds me why I used to visit this place.

I just wish I hadn't fallen for it. :(

Hook. Line. Sinker. Pole. Fisherman. Boat. Dock. Shore. etc...

I do feel bad for folks who preordered RC.

Speaking of classy, gotta love censoring the non-abusive replies made to the announcement on his blog.

It really just reinforces my point, sadly.

Me too! If I had figured it out in time, I *never* would have posted a link to this thread in the other one and a lot of folks never would have ever seen it! (ZING! payback is a... well, you know! ;) )

I am the unwitting accomplice...

Yeah,

I wrote "Not funny. -Aberzanzorax" (Nothing else, no swears, no name calling, nothing.)

It was posted (and approved) and is now gone.

So, so classy.

Oh, and mxyzplk did the editing on RC. HE fell for it.

Imagine how he feels.
