Luke’s hand and Anakin’s light-saber?

Is this Luke’s hand, holding his father’s (i.e. Anakin) light-saber?
It could be, or maybe it's just some other piece of debris that got sucked into the tunnel.

Yes...but the hand was recovered from the atmosphere and NOT in Cloud City, IIRC. So, more the reason that it WAS the hand falling

Really?

That seems vastly unlikely that his hand and lightsaber could be recovered from falling into a gas giant, with something like four hours headstart on falling.

I'd gotten the impression they wound up in a different pipe and were discovered later, when the Empire went over Cloud City with a fine-tooth comb.

Edit: Of course, it's been ages since I read that book, so I could be wrong.

I don't remember the details, but after watching ESB again, that has to be the hand. There was focus on it for a reason. It wouldn't have been singled out if it was just a piece of debris. They could have done the 'long way down' without it, but the hand was the important part. Symbolism of losing part of himself...literally.
