Lycanthropy Question

Ungruush

First Post
I'm looking for a bit of clarification...

Under the Lycanthrope template, the SRD states:

A lycanthrope retains all the special qualities of the base creature and the base animal...

My first question relates to the Were-things hybrid form, and in more detail, using a cheetah as the base creature.

The cheetah has a special ability called "Sprint"

Sprint:
Once per hour, a cheetah can move ten times its normal speed (500 feet) when it makes a charge.

Can this be used in hybrid form?

If so, does the charge use the base creatures humanoid speed, or the base animals speed? I would be inclined to say the base humanoid, but again i am unsure.

Again, assuming this lycanthrope could "sprint" would this modified speed count towards a jump check if included in the charge?

And lastly, does a base speed play a factor in an attempt to bull rush? I would think so, but there is nothing i can find to clear things up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks

Yes.

The werecheetah would move at ten times whatever its speed is in hybrid form. Watch in awe as werecheetah monks break the sound barrier.

I do believe so, but I'm not sure what happens after the round ends if you're still stuck in mid-air.

And lastly, does a base speed play a factor in an attempt to bull rush? I would think so, but there is nothing i can find to clear things up.
Moving faster doesn't provide any extra bonuses, but does allow you to push your enemy back further, if your result is high enough.

IIRC the hybrid form moves at the humanoid/giant's speed. So, the cheetah-man isn't going to *quite* hit supersonic speeds.

But in cheetah form, where you still get to add the enhancement bonus to speed from the monk levels...that's still only 90-120 mph, but that's still darn fast for an organic non-flyer.

and another thing...

(thanks for the replies so far, but i would really like to have a broad opinion of who would allow what and do what degree!!!)

how does a creature gain the rend ability? i would imagine its only requirement is two claws and an impressive strength...

thoughts?

Actually there are some ways to tweak out speed that at higher levels mid teens and up can result in various builds breaking the sound barrier on land, also feats of speed such as jumping the Potomac, running clear up the side of the Empire State Building to perch on its roof etc.

The DM gives it to the creature.

That's not just me being facetious - Rend is not a feat. There is no qualification process. Either the DM decides the creature should have it or the creature doesn't get it.
