[M&M2e] Red Sands Chronicles

There is a pause, then a great hiss of steam and pneumatics along with the groan of metal moving against metal as the cockpit's armored carapace unlatches and slides out away from the seat to give it room to slide on extending rails to ground level.

Revealed, Deezy pushes her goggles up onto her forehead and squints at the wristband that the Ottoman holds. She then holds out her hands and makes grabby motions with her fingers until he actually puts it into her grasp.

She occupies the next several minutes turning the device around in her hands and peering at it from every angle.

"Hmm."

OOC: Rats exist... but you wouldn't want to pet one that became an aether mutant.

"Hmm."

[sblock="Grigori Wrist Comm"]
It's a wrist comminication device with a handy time keeping element capable of Martian time (though configured to Victoria Town's time standard), or acting as a countdown timer or a stopwatch. The watch is currently set to stopwatch mode.

The wrist comm's seems to be an almost standard radio receiver and transceiver, although there are some flourishes that aren't seen on most. The radio is capable of sending and receiving on shortwave, medium wave, long wave (labeled as vhf) and in a broad frequency spectrum. This functionality is controlled by a knob and multiple sliders.

This means that the user of the device is able to listen/join in on conversations that exist on the frequencies most civilian radios transceivers/recievers use (shortwave). The user is able to listen to standard radio broadcast frequencies (medium wave)* as well as frequencies that are mostly used by the Transporter's Guild and few others within the vhf spectrum (22mHz ~ 88mHz).* The radio seems to be currently set to about 70mHz .

The device appears to volume knob for the radio's receiver (set to off), a push to talk functionality which doubles as a code key (set to talk mode). What is strange is that there seems to be one last final slider that isn't clearly labeled but is associated with the transceiver function.
Code:
 V o T Tx Code Label
|X | |X | Position

*OOC:Yes AM radio is commonly used and listened to. The top range of the vhf band corresponds with tv signals. What is interesting is that theoretically, the Grigori can pick up audio fragments of I Love Lucy, or some FM radio stations if they used this device on earth and were able to properly tune it. Lady Rasputina laughed as Sahid left the crawler's bed. "Being that convincing a wastelander, like yourself, of the wonders of our civilization is like teaching the blind the meaning of the color blue, the weapon I use is not that of persuasion."

"Blue has no meaning," Seif pointed out rather testily. A pause... "Tell us- Tell me the *how*, that we at least know what we do. Or is respect also not a weapon you use?” hard, blue-eyed curiosity on the last, nothing rhetorical about it.

the caravan rumbled towards the remains of an ancient landslide that occurred at the canyon's mouth. The caravan immediately slowed its pace as each of the vehicles navigated around the many man-sized rocks that littered the canyon's floor.
The desert man looks up as the convoy slows. He should go, something was happening out there...

Deezy's eyes lit up as she examined the wrist device, and for several minutes she was lost in its intricity. Finally she looked up at The Ottoman and said, "This is really great. I dunno if it's the Old Science, but it's pretty advanced! Lots of stuff packed into this tiny thing. Um. Can I have it?"

"Blue has no meaning. Tell us- Tell me the *how*, that we at least know what we do. Or is respect also not a weapon you use?"

"No meaning? Maybe for the majority of Mars it doesn't, but it did. It used to be the color of the earth*! The old books say that the Earth water and it's sky was blue, but as long as we are stuck on this rock, that doesn't matter.." She snidely stated. "But, I don't know exactly how Bourghomeister and his merchant cronies are doing it. I don't know what they said to their fellow guild members or how they convinced them to make oppose the Union's Bylaws, our regulations, or ignore our established procedures and protocols. All I know is that after you local decided to organize that stranded caravan, other merchants decided to follow suit."

* OOC: Though the earth may appear blue and white through a telescope, its hard to tell how "blue" the planet's sky and water actually are from the surface of Mars.

"This is really great. I dunno if it's the Old Science, but it's pretty advanced! Lots of stuff packed into this tiny thing. Um. Can I have it?"
OOC: You know... since I've spent the last week making DCA characters, one thing I've come to love is their usage of equipment arrays. It's funny how the concept always existed in MM 2e but most people rarely use them unless their character actually had a utility belt. That said... the wrist comm is a nice 7ep item. ;)

Even with the caravan slowing, Seif still took the time to think... Strangely enough, he believed her.

"If you were released, would you continue to interfere?"

[sblock=OOC]I'm loving this scene, by the way. Thanks Relique. :) [/sblock]

"If you were released, would you continue to interfere?"

"That depends on if your definition of released means 'dumping me in the middle of nowhere with a canteen of water far from any patroled trade routes.'"

Sense Motive: 1d20+1=15. Assuming he believes her:

A pause, and then Seif unfastened his veil, revealing his face. "I will inquire," he commits, before carefully re-fastening the dark cloth in place.

[/sblock]The desert man then reached down and scooped her up in his arms, offering only a nod to her bound ankles as an explanation. "Do you have questions?" It quickly becomes clear that he's taking her back to the front cabin and planning to again tie her in plain view of the crew there. (His eyes take in the view through the windshield, the attitude of the crew (which seem calm enough); whatever is going on, it doesn't appear to be an immediate threat).

«Response Lady Rasputina»

"Status?" he inquired of the driver.
