[M&M2e] Red Sands Chronicles

Interlude: A Long walk home...
After receiving their orders, the members of the caravan returned to their vehicles and turned on their engines. Slowly, within a span of less then a few minutes, the crawlers make their way towards the bottom of the graded road.

(Those who glance back towards the ridge are able to see what appears to be a land slide. This land slide mystically appears a few hundred feet from the caravan's starting position, and fades to nothing by the time the first vehicle reaches Elysium Road.)

About five minutes after the caravan begins to travel down Elysium road, the crawlers begin to slow and the eventually eventually stop. Seif turns to glance at Rasputina for a moment before saying, "Rejoice."

Rasputina narrowed her eyes in suspicion. "Rejoice in what?"

OOC: Assume your character's previous conversations since post 277 are happening as the caravan is driving, and AFTER the "interlude". Here maybe your final chance to say something to Rasputina...

"To what purpose?" asked Seif with a genuinely uncomprehending frown. "We are already running as fast as is safe."

"Well, seems to me, the more we know, and the sooner we know it, the better prepared we can be," Brian offers. "Since your rig's hitching a ride, anyway, Deezy, don't suppose it hurts anything to see how soon we can raise the caravan on the radio."

Rasputina narrowed her eyes in suspicion. "Rejoice in what?"
"In my sadness." His own eyes danced darkly, enjoyment and... something else. And then he untied her -- always on guard, always set firmly between her and the rest of the crawler's occupants. She was not to be triffled with.

The ropes dropped to the floor, piled up in the leg well. "Out."

[sblock=OOC]Seif will follow her out, then signal the caravan to start moving on as he waits, standing between her and it, arms crosed, his camel in the background.[/Sblock]

"Provided -" Seif reformulated: "What are the odds the patrols will hear? I councel patience, until immediate danger is past." He did not stay for further discussion, having said all he had to say.

[sblock=OOC]In other words, go for it if you want to. ;)[/Sblock]

"Out."

Rasputina gives Seif a scornful look as the caravan begins to move past them. "You better hope that I do not arrive back to Victoria Town before your caravan does. If I do, I will make sure that every prole in Local 310 will be punished severely for this indignity."

For about 4 hours, the Caravan travels south through multiple valleys and within two canyons before reaching a vast region of rolling hills. This journey has been for the most part, rather eventless particularly due to the fact that the only aerial patrol which the caravan spotted was far ahead of the caravan.

As the caravan travels through the rolling hills, you get your first glance of what appears to be a settlement located on the a large distant plataea that is overlooking the junction between the Galexias' road and Elysium road.

Seif smiled tight in answer to that and strode towards her. Somewhere along the way his veil droppped, and then he was kissing her. Hard. Intense. Passionate.

Their desert guide scanned the horizon.... Seing nothing threatening, he then quickly gallopped up a rocky projection to look down on the possible approaches. *How are the radio frequencies?* he asked Klatta over those selfsame frequencies.

[sblock=OOC]Notice +10, please. If nothing, then give the green light to approach on up!

*Break time approaches, 'brothers'.* He forwent anything more uplifting, as the devil gods of fate were not ones to be tempted. They were not yet home free...[/sblock]

"Checking...didn't get anything before, but we were pretty far out then."

Deezy taps her earbud and starts checking signals on the various frequencies up and down the dial...

"I'll scout ahead when we get closer. Try to pick up signals, and keep me posted if the sensors catch anything." says the Ottoman, that is now standing outside, looking at the distant town, waiting the carvan to cover some distance.

Deezy scans the radio frequencies, and doesn't seem to notice anything unusual, at first. As the caravan closes in on the settlement, she notices that a faint series of beeps that grows in strength as the caravan approaches the plateau.

From the distance, what appears to be a small settlement can be be seen at the base of the plateau. There is also a road that snakes its way towards the plateau's top.

As you look through the spyglass, you can see that the settlement at the base of the plateau looks as if it was recently attacked and abandoned.[/sblock]

"I suggest we make a small advanced group and scout ahead, before risking the entire caravan. No radio signals are not a good sign." says the Ottoman to the Lord. "I'll take our mechanic expert, the guy from the factory, and Seif. We can all ride in your robot m'lady." he says to Deezy.

"Wait," Deezy exclaimed. "I'm getting something. No voice. It's a series of repeated tones. Very weak, but definitely getting stronger as we get closer. It may be some kind of beacon, though not much range on it if so. Also, there's only one other seat in here. You can't all ride inside. I guess I could take another couple on the arms, or up on the shoulders?"
