OOC:

A slight retcon: While going through the upper village, the bodies appear to have fallen in combat AT FIRST. However, the closer you get to the bunker the older they appear and the more likely they have been executed.

Relique, do the vehicles look like they were deliberately piled there? Are they all local vehicles or does there seem to be raider and/or 'injured caravan' vehicles in there as well?

Deliberate. They are all local vehicles and it seems like the raiders wanted to give the Elder (and his powwow's attendees) a big middle finger as well as a warning not to resist again, because next time it will be worse.

Sahid nodded and approached the pile of burning trash. He outstretched his arms, towards the dead bodies that covered the ground. In a quick movement, he pulled up with his arms, taking all the water from the corpses, and creating a torrent of water that like a tidal wave, smashed the piled vehicles to the side, as well as extinguishing the flames.

OOC: Using Water control: Area Blast.

"He wants to venture into a death zone."

The Elder paused for a moment before responding, "They say much of the Chaos lands are poisoned with aether, but I do not think that there is anything worthy of an expedition within that region. Maybe, they seek to travel into Elysium."

Sahid extinguishes the flames.

"What's 'Elysium'?" Deezy wants to know as she carefully steps the Beast into the gap created by the water, and shoves the vehicles away to make a larger, more stable opening.

"What's 'Elysium'?"

"It was once a Great City that was larger then your Victoria Town and was located on the base of a great mountain. The legends say that earth was jealous of it's glory so they unleashed death unto it during the great calamity." The elder bent down an scooped a hand full of dirt. "Death made the city's land, air, and water poisonous and pledged to visit all who steps within an hour's drive of the city's shattered walls." The elder sprinkled the dirt onto the nearby bodies, as if blessing them. "The southern road passes by along the edge of the death zone, but even those who travel on that road find themselves at peril."


With a path cleared to the entrance, you immediately notice that the hatch appears to be fuzed in place.

Seif breathed out a tightly controled breath and did NOT look Brian's way...

OOC: What treasures are rumored to lie in Elysium, Relique?

"That sounds like a great place," Deezy says wistfully. "Except for the certain death part. Hey, I can see the door now! Hang on a second..."

She zoomed up the display a little and scowled.

"I think it's welded. Hold on, I need to see it up close."

What followed were a series of clicks and hisses, followed by a grinding mechanical whirr. A panel in the back of the robot opened, and Deezy slid out, deftly catching onto a small ladder that was automatically ratcheting down from the hatch's lower edge. When close enough to the ground that it wasn't dangerous she let go of the ladder and landed on Mars amidst a pair of puffs of red sand.

From there she gave the Elder a cheerful salute. "Hiya! Just give me a couple of shakes and I'll have your people outta there in no time!"

"What's 'Elysium'?" Deezy wants to know.

The desert warrior frowned a puzzled look her way: who in this land did not know of the city that died?

"Cutting tools?" inquired the robed one from the plaza above. Travelling with an inventor did have some advantages after all.

OOC: I'm suppossing Deezy is down by the door now -- which may be hot by the way (it's been in mechoui land for a while now ). If Deezy doesn't think of it, Seif will warn her before she touches flesh to metal.

OOC: Most likely a treasure trove of lost technology and advanced weaponry, a bunch of irradiated skelitons and mutants.

"I think it's welded. Hold on, I need to see it up close."

"Do not worry, my people have enough supplies and air to survive within the bunker for at least a month."

I'm suppossing Deezy is down by the door now -- which may be hot by the way (it's been in mechoui land for a while now ). If Deezy doesn't think of it, Seif will warn her before she touches flesh to metal.

OOC:

Deezy can feel heat coming off the metal hatch as she approaches it. From a safe distance she is able to notice the sure tell signs that it has been welded shut.

Deezy hustles to the door, pausing as she starts to feel the heat baking off of it. Even then though she examines it as best she can from a few paces away.

"Definitely welded," is her prognosis. "I have a cutter, but it's back in my machine shop. The Beast's locker is only big enough for a few things..."

She pushes a pair of heavy duty goggles down over her eyes, the round lenses colored so dark that it seems impossible that she can see anything through them at all. After a few seconds of peering up and down minutely at the weld seam through the goggles she pushed them back up away from her face.

(OOC - Inspecting the weld both visually and with Ultrasonic Imaging Goggles to look for structural weaknesses. Then I was thinking perhaps I could spend a Hero Point to make some on the spot improvisational changes to the Omniblaster so it emits a constant beam that can melt the weld...or maybe our pyrotech can do that, and then Deez can use her Datalink machine to gain access to the door controls and open it while the seam is still soft enough for the door motors to pull apart.)
