[M&M2e] Red Sands Chronicles

Binder Fred said:
For each one Seif will check oxygen levels in the tanks, apparent suit integrity and finish with a leak test (turn up the oxygen supply on the fully closed/suited up suit and see if any leaks develop). He'll also check that each suit has its usual leak repair kit attached. Take10 on Survival(?) for a 21.

How much oxygen is included in each suit, by the way?
There are no holes or leaks. However, the tanks only have about 30 minutes of air left in them.

"What is your name?" spelled out the desert man.
"Johnathan Silverstone, I'm one of the bunker's maintenance crew."

"Some will die. Some will resist the pull longer than others... Some will not. They can Change, at any time... And then they will start killing."

"Not everyone whose flesh becomes corrupted by aether is transformed into a mindless beast."

"But how will you know who will, and who will not? Will you wait to see the first innocent killed?" Sahid shakes his head. "I guess we'll have to rescue them first, and think about that later."

"The change is not immediate. It takes minutes, to a few hours. The victim becomes feverish, incoherent, and prone to extreme moods and outbursts. Their outbursts escalate to the point of violence. All the while they develop a ravenous appetite, take on a palid appearance with pronounced green veins. Before their final turn they begin to convulse in pain and agony, it is that point when their mind finally snaps and they are lost." The elder paused. "Our aether witches can prevent a soul from falling past that final precipice. That is the cruelty of what the Warlor's deed; those who will not die, may be turned and we can not save them if that were to happen."

Loud clatters echo suddenly from where Deezy is divesting herself of pouches, belts, and other acoutrements that won't fit under the pressure suit. This has the side effect of leaving her with very little left on, though her back is turned, and shadows from the rails and catwalks leave some modesty for her rather scrawny body intact. Not that she seems troubled by the situation, as she pokes her feet into the legs of the suit, then wriggles it up over her shoulders and sticks her arms in. A quick zip, and she starts piling her things back on...now wearing them OVER the suit.

Finally, operation completed, Deezy cracks her knuckles and turns around.

"Ready to go!" she says with a thumbs-up and a thousand-watt grin.

The turk nods to the elder. If these men were to become mad, there was time for executions; that, if they failed to retrieve the aether witch from that damn warlord. Perhaps that man was worthy of having his blood reverse flux, and his heart bursted.
Thinking this, the Ottoman unceremoniously puts his whie vests down, and the suit on. Grabbing his scimitar from his belongings, he states: "Ready"

Seif was finishing up on the Ottoman's suit by then. He did not disillusion the Elder - a man needed hope if nothing else - but he knew, to the depth of him, how very, very quickly the Change could come...

"Ready to go!" she says with a thumbs-up and a thousand-watt grin.
"Suit check," insisted the veiled one as he patted the Elder's shoulder: suit check complete. Predictably, he did not wait for an answer to close in on her, though he did ask a question of his own as he started meticulously going through the checklist on *her* suit: "What is the plan?"

<Answer Deezy?>

Deezy tries to scratch the side of her nose, and seems surprised when her finger bumps into the face-screen of her suit instead. She shrugs.

"I kinda need to see what's down there," she says. "Standing up here asking questions is just wasting time. I need to SEE what there is, then I can work out what to do."

Seif's jaw tightened, but somehow his voice remained calm. "Your plan is to open the vault door and flood our only escape way with deadly gas?"

Seif's jaw tightened, but somehow his voice remained calm. "Your plan is to open the vault door and flood our only escape way with deadly gas?"

"It doesn't sound like there's another option, unless you just want to torch the place," Brian says, then clams up, afraid he's giving Seif ideas...

"I could take a look at the vent and see if I can get down that way," Deezy offers. "But one way or another, if they get out, it'll have to be through the door. Still, if I can get the gas out first, that might be better."She goes to look for the vent that they'd mentioned earlier.
