M2: The Search for Goblin HQ

Round 37

Venus, I'm going to ressurect the 'Irene alone' thread for Irene. It might be short, but I do want to get see how it goes w/her w/o the rest of the party knowing what's going on.

Rinaldo dashes around the group to attack Somac's attacker. He rounds the corner and notices several of the fishmen in a line, backs against the hut, in the process of sneaking up on the party. His attack does catch the lead sahaugin by surprise, and his rapier bites deeply into its flesh, though it still stands (10 pts dmg).

Tenebrynn races after Rinaldo's unfamiliar scaley back, but can't find his way into combat this round. Tor attempt to strike at the lead sahaugin, while standing behind Somac. He hits with his chain, dropping the wounded creature.

The sahaugins move up to attack. Tenebrynn is hit hard (8 pts), and falls onto the ground, which in this area is a mixture of sand and tall grass. Rinaldo is not attacked. One fishman moves up to him, making strange inaudible movements with its mouth. The last sahaugin moves over Somac (who had been brought up to 0 hps by the combined healing magics of Charlarn and Nurlan) to get to Tor. Tor smacks him with his chain as he advances, but doesn't kill it. It drops its trident and leaps at Tor, attempting to pull him down. Tor can't manage another hit with his chain, but does block its grab with his arms. It now stands over Somac.

West of the hut, the ground quickly slopes upwards, in a near verticle wall of rock. The party now can't see the main part of the beach, nor their horses or their other companions. The three horses tied up behind them become quite panicky at the sight and smell of the sahaugin, and start to rear up, and pull at the ropes, which tie them to trees.

Nurlan will use a move action to get behind the front lines. If he can get next to Tenebrynn with that, he'll use his standard action to heal the librarian/mage/fighter (which would take the wand down to 41 charges); if not, he'll begin inspiring courage again, for the third and last time today.

Rinaldo di Senzio: hp:1/23

Rinaldo will feint and attack at his opponent, trying to finish the lead fishman. After that, he will retreat behind Tenebrynn to leave the place to Tor, and in hope he won't be the target of the next attack, as he starts to feel dizzy. After retreating, he will say:

"Nurlan, your wand would be welcome on me, if you can come to me."

Charlarn of Phyrah: Male human cleric 3

Charlarn pulls the morningstar from his belt. In one motion, he rises from his crouch and swings the weapon at the sahuagin standing over Somac. (Atk +3; Dmg 1d8+1) "Leave us alone. We weren't going to bother you anymore."

HP: 11/20

Somac: Male Human Bbn 2

Somac opens his eyes while thinking 'Again? What manner of beasts are these?'

Even in the midst of this melee, he is well aware of his precarious state. He has lost a lot of blood from his throat wound and knows that any strenuous action on his part would likely lead to his imminent death. And, incredibly, the fish-men seem to be ignoring him for the moment. Reasoning that his death would be of little benefit to his friends, the barbarian decides to play dead and hope the creatures don't notice.

'If worst comes to worst,' he thinks to himself, 'I still have my dagger and may be able to take one of them out with me...

OOC: Somac will feign death for the moment.

round 38

Somac regains consciousness, but plays dead, awaiting a better opportunity to act. Charlarn whacks at the sahaugin standing over Somac, striking it on the head, and crushing its skull. Nurlan moves past between Tor and Charlarn and uses his useful wand to revive Tenebrynn. (He is brought up to 6 hps, prone. His weapon is lying next to him.) Rinaldo feints, drawing his opponent off guard, and thrusts with his rapier/trident, but the point of his blade deflects off the sahaugin's hard scales. Tor is able to move up and over slightly to take a shot at Rinaldo's opponent, ripping off scales and flesh (6 pts).

The two remaining sahaugins, for whatever reason and as if on cue, withdraw, feinting a forward thrust with their tridents, then twirl and run back around the hut and out of sight.

Rinaldo helps Tenebrynn to stands up. "Come on! It's time to take the horse." As soon as Tenebrynn is on his feet and Rinaldo see that he will be able to walk by himself, he will start to move toward the horses.

Lehishtako!

Nurlan will use the wand on the disabled Somac once more. (40 charges left) He'll then move in the direction he thinks will lead toward horses. Did he see that Jezibel stole his horse? If not, he'll go back to where our horses were; if he knows his horse is gone, he'll move toward the horses to the west.
