If at least a few of the others nod acquiscingly, Ogrin whispers: "Aye. Move quietly. Melee types at the rear guards, spellcasters target the front figures. Let's go!" and then sneaks away towards the goblins at the end of the group, attempting to deal some damage.

Yup, Ogrin, Razh & Rinaldo have the clubs as far as I understand. Since Ogrin is smaller, would any of the items work as a small greatclub? Yes means 1D8 damage at -4 to hit, No means 1D6 damage for -8 to hit... Either way, he's using it two-handed.[/SBLOCK]

Rasereit Vundinn, Dwarven Barbarian

Razh nods and creeps through the tall vegetation as quietly (1d20+3=18) as his dwarven frame will allow him. He will wait at the edge of the concealed field until everybody is in position and Ogrin gives the go. Then he will leap out, roaring like the barbarian he is, surprising but not scaring (1d20+6=10) the goblin troop. He'll go for the nearest, strongest looking foe with his wooden club.

Initiative (1d20+3=15)

Rinaldo silently move (12) toward the goblinoids, hiding (22) in the herbs, not going father than in charge distance. As the signal (Init: 8) is given, he charge (att: 9) on the nearest hobgoblin or goblin (leaving the bugbear to the heavy hitter), in hope to do enough damage (dmg: 3 + sneak: 13) to knock them before they act.

Nurlan will do his best to creep along silently, which unfortunately is not very good (5). As soon as it is apparent that they have been noticed, but not sooner, he will begin singing the Ode to the Brave, a song to inspire courage.
 

The group moves into position, at this point, they have to pursue their foe somewhat. I posted a rough map. Feel free to note what position you'd like to reach. I'll get initiatives rolled & combat moving here soon. You'll probably get a surprise round to act, as the goblinoids are not paying much attention.

Ogrin, Razh and Rinaldo sneak ahead & attack suddenly.

Rinaldo attacks a hobgoblin, who manages to dodge despite being surprised. Razh has no better luck, his club striking a glancing but ineffective blow to another hobgoblin's studded leather. Ogrin smashes his club overhand into a third hobgoblin. The halfling's club crushes the goblinoid's skull, and it collapses on the ground, its small wooden sheild and longsword clattering to the road. It also has two javelins strapped to its back.

The goblinoids are quick to react. The two goblins flee forward, away from Rinaldo, passing the bugbears. They carry shortbows in hand. The bugbears both close with Razh. They both hit the dwarf glancing blows with their morningstars. (11 pts dmg) The hobgoblins lash out with their longswords, shouting commands at the others in goblin to make a formation and ready a defense. Raseriet and Rinaldo take scratches. (5 & 3 pts respectively)

Party can now act.

Ogrin can treat his club as an improvised greatclub. Including your unarmed stats in your combat post is great.

OOC: Can we get a key for that map? Oh, and though Razh has a lot of HP, he doesn't have enough to withstand three melee enemies and two ranged ones... I smell pain in my future.
 

Assuming that Nurlan has already started singing, he will continue the inspiring song while he charges the hobgoblin to Ogrin's right, grabbing his sword from him. His disarm attempt is fairly good (17).

* note 1: assuming that you can disarm on a charge -- I think you can, but if not, he moves normally and then disarms, with a 15 for his disarm attempt

* note 2: I will be canoeing from Thursday morning until late Sunday. I expect that means someone will have to take over Nurlan for much of this battle.
