M4: Under the Volcano [Nimisgod judging] -CONCLUDED

Ogrin feints a blow at his opponents knee, turning the club upwards at the hobgoblins pelvis at the last instant. The blow connects, and there's the crack of breaking bones.

[SBLOCK=OOC]Feint 21, Attack 15 , damage 5 (+4 if feint is successful)

Forgot bard song - again. Added 1 to Attack & Damage rolls (Inspire courage gives +1 bonus to saving throws vs fear and charm effects, to hit and damage rolls).[/SBLOCK]

[sblock]Spells prepared (Save DC 13 + spell level, or 14+ spell level for Evocation spells; 4+1/3+1/2+1): 0 - acid splash, detect magic*, flare*|x3; 1st - Ashnar's sparkstrikex3*|, mage armor, cause fear; 2nd - protection from arrows, scorching ray x23*|
Ashnar mentally recounts which spells he can use without his component pouch. Flare, my sparkstrike, cause fear, scorching ray. Technically also acid splash and detect magic, but those'll be rather of low use.[/sblock]
Assuming that the fleeing goblins are dealt with, Ashnar casts a sparkstrike at the goblinoids in melee. Preferrably, he'll target the most wounded one with the primary spark.

This is probably my last post before leaving, so here are a few notes for whoever runs Nurlan in my absence:
[sblock]The only spells he can cast without material components or foci are
* flare
* remove fear
* charm person
* expeditious retreat
In addition, he can cast light with the phosphorescent moss we found.

His most likely combat manoeuvers are disarm attacks and the flare spell; the latter will require him to interrupt his inspiring song, although its effects will last for five rounds beyond that.[/sblock]

Round 2 (con't)

Ogrin feints, then turns his improvised club to deliver a killing blow to hobgoblin number three.
Nurlan attempts to grab the bugbear's morningstar, but can't get a grip on it.
The dwarf smacks his bugbear opponent a second time, this blow connects with the creature's head & sends it brains splattering over the corn.
Tenebrynn fires off an magic missile, dropping the fleeing goblin.
Ashnar casts his sparkstrike spell (thanks for the link!), but fails to do significant damage (1 pt)
Rinaldo, seeing Tenebrynn drop the goblin, throws his javelin at the bugbear as well, imbedding the weapon in the creature's side.
Eanos (NPCed) throws a flurry of punches at his goblinoid opponent. He strikes one good blow on the head. It is not his best punch, but still powerful enough to break the hobgoblin's neck. Eanos, perhaps, is amazed by his own increasing power - mere months ago, he couldn't possibly have pulled that off.
Hogarth, following Rinaldo's example, hurls his javelin at the one remaining opponent. Unlike the merchant, however, Hogarth's weapon sails cleanly over the bugbear's head, to land unseen in the cornfield.

Round 3
The bugbear seems unfazed by how quickly his allies have fallen, and his own blood flowing from several wounds. Lost in the fog of war, he swings widely at Nurlan, catching the bard a glancing blow on the shoulder. (5 pts)

Ogrin moves in and quickly finishes off the wounded bugbear with his club, raising his count this battle to 4.

[combat over]

The party is somewhat bloodied, but not badly. Hogarth asks Rinaldo if he wants him to heal anyone. He tells the merchant he has several healing spells left.

The party has probably never been so excited over such petty treasures as they are now. They have captured the following:
2 sets of small leather armor
2 small short swords
2 small short bows
28 small arrows
2 medium sized leather armors
4 medium sized studded leather armors
2 medium morningstars
2 medium longswords
12 medium javelins
4 light wooden sheilds

The medium armor can, perhaps uncomfortably, be worn by any medium sized party member.
Hogarth indicates he would like a morningstar, shield, javelin and whatever armor is available.

EDIT: Per Velmont - should be 4 sets of studded leather

"Anyone need healing? Hogarth can gives some."

[SBLOCK=OOC]I count the equipement of 6 opponent, not 8, there was 2 opponent opponent without armor and weapon? Supposing you forgot to add two hobgoblin with standard equipmeent, here how I suggest to split:

Ogrin: Take all from the goblin, even the second bow, in case something happen to the first.
Razh: Studded, Light Shield, Longsword x2
Eanos: -
Ashnar: Take one of the crude club
Tenebrynn: Longsword
Nurlan: Studded, Light shield, Longsword
Rinaldo: Studded, Light shield, Morningstar
Hogarth: Studded, Light shield, Morningstar

Javelin, evenly split it between all who can throw them (Razh, Eanos, Tenebrynn, Nurlan, Rinaldo, Hogarth), which would mean 2 or 3 per person. The two shield left and the two leather armor left could be carry for any unusual need we can have to do... who knows, we sems to have some unusual plan in this unusual situation...[/SBLOCK]

Edited my post per Velmont's catch. A quick HP roundup: Ashnar, Tenebrynn, and Hogarth are at full. Nurlan is 22/27, Ogrin 20/27, Razh 20/36, Rinaldo 31/34, Eanos 5/23.

The group could now follow the road north if they choose. It winds through a small forest. Or they could go back to the fields or whatever.

As Rinaldo try to fits his studded leather, he suggest to Hogart

[SBLOCK=Goblin]"Hogart, you should try to heal Eanos and Razh. Use only one spell on each, don't waste too much your ressource, and expend only the spells you think you wouldn't need in combat, or in infiltration, as it is the most likely situation to come."[/SBLOCK]

Rasereit Vundinn, Dwarven Barbarian (HP: 35/51)

Razh squeezes into the studded leather armor. It is clearly not made for a dwarf. It's tight in all the wrong places and rather long. To make matters more uncomfortable, he's only wearing a loin cloth, so the friction of the unfitted armor rubs and blisters all the worse. But the alternative is no armor, which is unacceptable.

He picks up two of the long swords and swings them about. He's a little clumsy with them, especially in his left hand. He curses to himself as he relearns the more graceful art of swinging a sword. "Not quite the same as me axes... One's too light an' the other's too heavy... 'Ell, Ah might be better off with the-" He looks at the wooden stick he's been using as a club. "Nope, these're better." After a few practice swings and some fancy footwork, he seems more confident in his abilities, though he is clearly still having some trouble.

"An' this bloody thing." He picks up the shield, clearly unsure as to whether he even remembers how to use it, it's been so long. It's simple enough for the well-traveled warrior to figure it out again, though, and he soon discovers that he can actually use it as offense as well as defense. "Nah tha's more like it!"

He weighs his options carefully and finally decides on the dual-longsword option. Despite their awkward weights, he's more comfortable with two blades in his hand. He straps the shield to his back along with the javelins, just in case.

[sblock=OOC: ]Actually, Razh has 35/51 HP. A heal would be nice, even though after his wound I think he still has more HP than anyone else. He seems to take a lot of damage, so a heal would be good. It's up to Hogarth, of course. =P I just noticed Eanos' 5 HP. He deserves two heals. Without hesitation, I defer Razh's healing to Eanos.

Might-as-well-be-naked Stats:
AC: 16 (+3 DEX, +3 Studded leather)
AC w/ shield: 17 (+3 DEX, +3 Studded Leather, +1 Light Shield)
Grapple: +7
Attacks:
- Longsword x2 Atk +3/+3 (BAB +4, STR +3, TWF -4), dmg 1d8+3/1d8+3
- Longsword x1 Atk +7 (BAB +4, STR +3), dmg 1d8+3
- Longsword and Shield bash Atk +5/+5 (BAB +4, STR +3, TWF -2), dmg 1d8+3, 1d3+3
- Javelin (thrown) Atk +7 (BAB +4, DEX +3), dmg 1d6+4[/sblock]

"...three...four..." Ogrin pauses to take in the carnage. The battle went faster, and better, than he had anticipated. He quickly checks their foes, to see if any of them are conscious enough to be interrogated.

Ogrin responds to Hogarth in Goblin. "I'm not seriously injured; see to the others, Eanos and Razh in particular."

Ogrin supplies himself with two shortswords, a small leather armour ("Puäch! This smells like someone dead's been wearing it!") as well as a bow and quiver full of arrows (20pcs). He also takes the bowstring from the second bow.

Hogarth seems uncertain of what to do. He is glad to get the studded leather, the shield, the javelin and the morningstar. He is a compact, muscular man. He now looks quite dangerous. He touches the monk, speaking softly in Terran, healing him some (12 pts).

He then asks Rinaldo, "I have a spell to find traps, and one that makes a thunderburst. Very painful to the ears. I also have one that can summon a giant beetle to fight for me. Should I drop any of these spells for more healing if you think I should."

None of the goblinoids are in shape to be interogated.
