Mac users?

I'm on a Mac, and I have trouble with the EN World messageboards when I use Internet Explorer. I use OS 10.1.3 and Internet Explorer 5.1.

I have no trouble when I use the AOL browser for OS 10, though.

When I use IE, everything works fine...except that there are no subjects under the THREAD title, and therefore nothing to 'click on' to get something to read. I can see the word "Poll" and "Announcement:" and some icons, but thats it. Most of the subject lines are blank.

The other columns are visible (Thread Starter, Replies, Views, Last Post), and everything else seems fine.

I was guessing that I need to download the latest Update for OS 10 at the Apple website to fix the problem. Before installing OS 10 a month or so ago, the messageboards were working fine for me under OS 9. But--like I said--I'm just guessing that Updating the OS will correct the problem.

Hope this helps.

That's EXACTLY the problem Talon's having. Please please let us know how it goes if you do manage to get it fixed.

I have a similar problem. Sometimes just clicking on a free space helps, other times I need to delete the IE cache.

But if that doesn't help... sorry :(

OSX Update

For those Mac users who don't get the Apple newsletter, 10.2 is scheduled for release next month. I don't know if the update is available at the Apple Site yet, but you can always head on over and check it out. If you already have OSX this should be a free download.

Good luck.

OS10.2 came out today! Want. Want very badly.

Has Derek tried Netscape? Netscape 6 works very nicely and free you a little from the dark shackles of the evil overlord.

I'm on MacOS 8.6 and using Opera, which I highly recommend as it's far smaller, faster and less bloated than IE or N6. If you don't need the extra stuff (Composer, the newsreader, etc) it's probably worth it.

(I originally switched to it to read the EN boards, because an ad or something on the boards was causing Netscape to be glacially slow.)

Opera

iCab

Have him head on over to either or both of the sites above. For some reason I can't get Opera to work on my machine, but he may not have that problem. My browser of choice is iCab, which does a pretty good job. But be aware it is still under development and so has problems with certain sites. If he hasn't upgraded to OSX, and he has a machine that can handle it, I heartily recommend he invest the $129.95+ tax U.S. Along with all the other neat stuff he'll get the browser that comes with it.

Good luck.

And now that I think of it, has he checked his preferences on Netscape and IE? Resetting them to the default settings may do the trick.
