Can anyone explain to me what the different features of Mad Certainty or Insane Certainty have to do with each other? (Alienist abilities for 4th and 8th level. The Alienist is found in T&B.)
How does "certainty in the power of entities beyond the reach of normal space and time" lend anyone an "unnatural fortitude" (i.e. a bonus toughness feat)? And why should it bring with it a phobia of some kind of creature?
Personally, I would give the alienist, say, a +1 to Intelligence and a -2 to Wisdom. To enhance the "genius bordering on madness" trait. Maybe a phobia, too, though I don't know why it should necessarily be of a creature. Fear of Flying might be good. Or lightning. Or maybe a habit of talking to oneself (-6 to move silently checks).
