Mage Teas

Every good southerner knows that tea is better after its cooled down. So I wouldn't worry about it loosing its efficacy. basically the teas seem like a variant potion, and I would just use the rules for that.

I for one enjoyed the short historical storytelling that went with the teas.
It gave the reader a since of familiarity in using the teas.
Also the whole drinking tea idea works well for us who like to make what I call

(Fat Posts)

In other words you don’t just cast spells and say...
ok let go kill some Orgs!

You create a feel of adventure as if leading up to a big fight by making the tea and sharing it with your adventuring companions.

The whole experience is enhanced.

On a side note someone mentioned the prices of the tea being a bit much.

Lets look at one that works

Gamecat
Sixfinger: Named for its six leaved stems, the Sixfinger plant will sprout without warning, and die within 12 hours, leaving 3 seeds in its place.

This I could see costing gold!
While the others should be in silver coins

Yet on a side note...
In my continues Crusade against using Gold as the standard pricing.
Ironically its D&D/FR that says Copper/Silver is mostly used in daily trades.

For example such people as poor Fishermen/Farmers or middle class Bakers/Store owners use Copper/Silver coins to buy things.

Yet those same D&D/FR in a psycho way ....use gold to Price everything in there books.

Which is one of the reasons why you see (Gold Inflation) in peoples posts
In one story I was in a poster throws around 3000 gold as a tip for broken furniture

Yet 3000 gold could build a tavern if you compare the daily pay some NPC get in FR books
Like the City of Splendors (Waterdeep) or other books.

Sorry just needed to rant a little :o

Once again I for one found the whole tea idea fun and most enjoyable
It can truly add to a gaming story...... kind of like when a Mage lights her pipe before speaking
or a Dwarf scratching her short whiskery chin before deciding words aren’t worth saying and punches out the drunken tavern Halfling next to her.

AKA more Fat in the post and more fun in reading...good job on the tea :D

Keep in mind the gold costs are for properly grown and refined teas that actually effect spells. With the exception of Starshot Glory, all of the herbs listed are commonly brewed in mundane tea. The magical refinement is what brings out the metamagic in the herbs.

True but they still seem a little pricey because they can only be used once.
