Pardon me if this seems trite, but not all magical items are created equal. There are (many) generic +1 weapons. There are possibly a small number of fairly generic +1 holy weapons (perhaps they were crafted by various good-aligned churches during the Demonswar). However, the PCs ought to ooh and aah at least a little over Wrath of the Righteous, the +5 axiomatic, holy, evil outsider bane cold iron longsword that struck down Verlgathor the Balor in the last battle of the Demonswar.
