Magic Jar = evil or at least non LG?

Well, What does the Cleric's DEITY think about magic jar? Or the beleif system if there is no deity?

Mind you, I'm not a fan of 'pimping' so I'm likely to throw some religious conundrums at someone that does this.

I sent him an email with the above bit about how G characters should act pasted in. I pointed out that a LG character would use the spell to move someone into a jail cell and then switch back but not walk the body into a river of lava (the area the party is in has a large lava river flowing though it).

He replied back:

My deity is true neutral anyway and I should only be one category removed from him anyway. I will just miss out on all of the "good" only rooms and trinkets the designers left to bolster the party.

So, he was not only pimping the Cleric but the alignment as well. Sigh.

Oh well. The thread did its job by smoking out a potential pimp and squashing it. Thanks to everyone that replied especialy Kolvin who helped to firm things up for me.

Ex-Clerics

A cleric who grossly violates the code of conduct required by his god loses all spells and class features, except for armor and shield proficiencies and proficiency with simple weapons. He cannot thereafter gain levels as a cleric of that god until he atones (see the atonement spell description).
Doesn't matter if you're still within the bounds of selecting that god by alignment - if you've pissed that god off, you lose powers.

This character is still on the drawing board and not in play yet. Which is why I thought he went back and changed his alignment to LG in the first place.

I WILL have to check on what diety he picked and make sure he follows some sort of guidlines though.

Well, in the games I play, if you want to multiclass you have to justify it to the DM as to how you went through that class and why. I think it's a perfectly reasonable requirement, and can be used to somewhat ameliorate dipping. It's not all that hard to come up with a reason why your character started out as a cleric and ended up as a sorcerer, I guess, but they'd have to be careful to construct that story in such a way that they don't count as ex-clerics from day one.

That's why I have to be a fighter/sorcerer/dragon disciple and don't get to be a fighter/duskblade/dragon disciple...
