Magic Kingdom for Sale, SOLD!

Hmm... my guess... somewhere up in the $50-$100 million range.

$9 million probably barely covers a year's upkeep.

Hmm... maybe if I take an ARM...

En World Castle has a nice ring to it...it would be so cool to game at that place with all the nice EnWorlders!

There is a notice saying:
"This listing is restricted to pre-approved bidders or buyers only."
I guess this means that the bidders must be approved by the seller, so the bids are probably genuine.

But, I wonder what the drawbacks are (other than the $$-based ones, like the price, maintenence, & taxes). What responsibilities are required for such a landowner (esp. w/ that rank of title), if any?
Well, I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say that with 261 acres of land you'r gonna be kicking yourself every week when it comes time to mow the grass, for starters. I think it would be time to start collecting orphans too, so that you could get someone to dust all 30,000 sq. feet. I wonder what someone would do if you tore it down and turned it into a strip mall though. "I thought my Barony needed a KFC more than it did a stupid dusty castle."

Why tear it down?!

Turn the first floor into "themed" shops & the rest into a bed & breakfast, add a small amusement park out back. Now you're all set to bring "authentic" British vacations available to Americans with a hankering for something different but not TO different! Visa & Mastercard accepted (sorry no Discover card).

If it does REALLY well you can franchise it out to other impoverished country Lords who want to turn their manors from money pits into cash cows!!

Woo-hoo!

:)

I've been doing my homework on the thing at the castle's website, and it's a class B historical property: "may not be modified whatsoever externally, but may be modified internally, and may not be rebuilt externally, in any way."

Oh well. There goes M'lord's Starbucks and Paint Stores. :\

What, you can affort a $9+ million dollar castle, but don't have enough left over to buy a cadre of servents and gardeners?

Orphans. That's what I'd have left, and I'd be selling their kidneys and corneas to rich customers around the world to pay the taxes. I suppose I could just take on the Scottish American tradition of rebelling against the crown though. That might work. With my army of poorly sighted orphans.
