First Post
first off, for those of you who don't know what a minigun is, it's a shooting device with an extremly fast rate of fire.

this post is concerning the spell weaver from the monster manual 2.

the spell weaver can cast first level spells with 1 hand and it has 6 of these, it is considerd a 9th level sorcerer for detirmening it's spells, you can typicly convert any higher level spells to lower level ones, and let's say it can also quicken some of them and you get:

a magic missile shooting device with an extremly fast rate of fire! :p

Made famous in pop culture in such movies as Predator in which Governor Jesse Ventura wields one and Terminator 2 in which Governer Arnold Schwarzeneggar does.

Moral of the story; if you want a political career after your Hollywood career, consider making a movie where you shoot a big-ass gun that mows down trees. ;)

True dat.

See also Reagan's little known cult classic, Bongo vs the Viet King Kong.

Actually, as I understand it, the minigun Arny and Jesse used doesn't really exist. It was made for Predator and then used again in Terminator 2.

It's not something our military uses as it's much to heavy and in reality isn't very practical. And could you imagine tring to aim the thing.

Still looks cool though. ;)

Sure the military uses it. Just, it's usually mounted on the nose of a A-10 Warthog tankbuster jet, not carried around by bad boy soldiers.

Right. I should have mentioned that.

away from the 3rd edtion book right now. But assuming sorcerer rules for metamagic

If a spellweaver casts as a sorcerer then quicken is not an option under the rules as written.

and spell wise- wasting hands to empower the spell is unproductive if it wanted the most damage in the shortest time. A spell empowered to 3rd level costs it the use of 3 hands.

5 missiles a hand at Id4+1 damage is 30d4+30 force energy, bye-bye unshielded PC

the 2e version was worse, they had a 12th level spellstack and could break spells down to component levels. yes 1 sixth level spell = 6 hand 30 magic missile salvo

Turning a spell that deals multiple 1d4+1's of damage into ID4 damage should take at least 1 full round to accomplish at that level. Let the energy build up like a Particle draw-in cannon/ anime energyball.

Pictures a spellweaver as the main gun on the spelljammer version of the Yamato

Actually, if the PCs keep pooping out Anime inspired characters, nailling them with one of these seems ...appropriate.
