Magic Missile Vs. Constructs?

That is certainly at least partially true. The section also mentions applying the damage just as it is done to creatures plus the next two parts talk about applying hardness while the first part talks about applying it normally.

I believe that this is enough of a difference in wording to make the applications different. Especially since they could have simply used the same wording each time but chose not to do so 1 out of 3 times. That is good enough for me.

The next two parts talk about dividing before applying hardness. Since Acid and Sonic aren't divided, it's not necessary to tell us whether it's before or after hardness is applied that you divide the damage. You just apply the damage normally! (Which we already know - roll the dice, then apply hardness.)

How do you apply damage to a creature with hardness? You roll the dice, then apply hardness. How do you apply sonic and acid damage to an object? Just like you do to a creature. Roll the dice, and if there's hardness, apply it!

And given the wording I feel that applying it normally is without the hardness value being subtracted off in this case.

I guess no one knows if force was called out in another book somewhere?
