Conjure volley on a thrown anvil seems pretty awesome...

could I use a halfling as an improvised throwing weapon?

They would still all deal the same amount of damage.

Though, i have no idea about the halfling. Since, while the halfling would deal the same amount of damage, he might also be able to do something while duplicated. Or he might take a massive amount of damage himself.
