Magic the Gathering - Deck Inspiration help

First Post
Hey guys.

Im planning on making a new deck (hopefully today) but I'm not sure what i wanna make. I've been using a lot vampire stuff but i took it apart (able to make it again at any time)

What idea's do you guys have for a deck??

That's a pretty broad question.. :)
Tell us about yourself and your play style.

A) What color(s) do you prefer to play?
B) Are you a casual or competetive player?
C) What "type" of player are you? (Are you someone who likes Creature-Heavy Decks? Controlling the tempo of the game? Being super-aggrevise from the start? etc.)
D) Are you loking for a deck comrpised of more recent cards (Like for the Innistrad block)? Or are you more flexible?

Vampire are generally pretty solid, particulatly in this block. I've recently seen Wolves/Werewolves used to good effect, and quite a few good Human decks as well. (Though I'm sure some will disagree, I think Black and White made out REALLY well this block, with Red trailing a distant 3rd.)

Personally, I'm one of those people who dips their toes into Magic every few years and makes new decks, while keeping the old ones. I also prefer "Goofy" decks (I still have my "Squirrel" deck circa the Odysessy expansions.), or decks that offer Alternate Win conditions.

Except for the buying new stuff to dip back in, you just described me. The other M:tG players in our group have a name for the decks I design...."Tony decks" (after my real name)*. Ahhhh...the stories I could tell.

I wish I could help you, Grimmjow, but I simply am out of date.

* including a poison counter deck, Urza/Artifact creature/"Mill"deck, Red/Blue infinitely recursive creatureless, Mono Green elves, Rainbow, Rainbow Elves, Red/Black discard, Mono Green Echo, Mono Red creature-sweeper, Mono black Rats, Mono Blue creatureless, Black/White swamp walking, The Living Planes deck, and a Mono Black deck where no creature costs more than 3 total mana.

While I never won a tournament, i came close a few times, and some of my ideas reshaped the way the game was played, at least locally.

blue magic and black magic. but i hate decks that are blue and black.

I made a relly cool blue deck where the srat is to destroy the other guys deck. its really fun

no its was just blue cards. i had cards that would make the other guy discard a car everytime i drew one, at the biggining of his upkeep he discards the top two of his libary. stuff like that

back in the day...flyers and dual lands. Now, build them like a villian in D&D, one big bad, three or four powerful henchman (special), then lots of low level thugs.

Those sound like standard cards (don't recall the names...one is a Jace card, I think). I have a standard deck that is black and red and has a lot of sacrifices, but includes cards that help bring creatures back from the graveyard. That one's fun.

Also, a green deck, sort of the same idea, except this one puts creatures back in your hand, but it mainly is comprised of creatures with effects that go off once when they are cast.

I've played against a curse deck, nothing but lands and curses. Surprisingly effective, but seems a bit on the dull side and can be countered by fast decks or ones that can take care of enchantments.

Something like that is what I called Mono Green Echo- creatures included things like Hunting Moas, Marker Beetles, Yavimaya Elder, etc.
